PopCap helps leukemia patient make game
Teams with 9-year-old for Allied Star Police.
PopCap Games, the casual gaming gurus behind Bejeweled and Peggle, have helped a nine-year-old leukemia patient fulfill his dream of making his very own video game.
According to a Q13 Fox report (which you can see below), young Owain Weinert, who has been diagnosed with pre-B acute lymphocytic leukemia, has been stopping by PopCap's Seattle offices on a weekly basis to oversee development of a sci-fi RTS called Allied Star Police.
The partnership came about thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a non-profit organisation that helps grant the wishes of children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
We put in a call to PopCap for more information on how and when the finished game will be released, but it explained launch plans were still being ironed out. However, proceeds are expected to go back to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Fantastic stuff PopCap - Eurogamer salutes you.

Q13 Fox probably isn't part of the Fox News network. In the States "local" news is franchised so that you can air stuff from that network between news broadcasts. I know a lot of the Fox 43 guys in PA, which is actually owned by CNN (or allied to, I can't remember which).
My yankee TV news wife tried to explain it to me once and after 4 hours I only got the basics and a headache

Almost creepily so? He's like an excitable mini-adult. I bet his game will turn out to be about galactic stocks and shares or something, but really well made.
