No PS3 Child of Eden until September?

Ubisoft working on Move support.

Child of Eden, Tetsuya Mizuguchi's forthcoming synaesthetic shooter, will launch on PlayStation 3 in September, according to IGN.

As revealed last month, the Xbox 360 version is still due on 17th June, but Ubisoft is reportedly still working on the PlayStation 3 version, hence the delay. It's "expected" that the game will include Move support.

Eurogamer's Keza MacDonald sat down with Rez-creator Mizguchi last week to discuss the game's development.

"It's like a spiritual sequel to Rez, definitely," he explained, "but I wanted to have much more organic feel, not only digital, techno. I made it like a drama, a story, an emotional setting – it has songs, lyrics, words."

Move support and Rez HD on the disc please…

  • bladdard #2 1 year ago

Maybe I'm getting too cynical but it sounds like MS bought a timed exclusive to me.
  • DarkSeptember #3 1 year ago

I'm sure I read somewhere that Child of Eden plays better with the 360 controller rather than Kinnect ! Or did I just make that up ?
  • Golgo #4 1 year ago

How about release it now for standard controller, patch Move in later? Good idea? Hmmm? Mizuguchi-san?
  • Haunted_Tree #5 1 year ago

Not to drop the bait but the precision of the Move may be a better option - initial previews have been lukewarm about the Kinect matching the onscreen movement.

Not to drop the bullet on you but on this on site and their latest report on child of Eden using Kinect said it was a different and enjoyable experience. I guess you guys did not read the last update concerning the game and kinect. It appears all the problems during E3 last year are cleared up.

Now that I think about it, I am in doubt that the game would play well using Move. it was definitely not designed with Move in mind but instead Kinect. Move might end of being a tacked on experience since the design goals at the time did not include it.

It'll be be intresting to see how this controls with the move. Its probably better suited for games like this than kinect is.

@davisorle I think the game your on about is tumble. Its an excellent game by the way. Really shows what move is capable of.
  • darkmorgado #9 1 year ago

    It only does everything.

    Except simultaneous releases.
  • darkmorgado #10 1 year ago

    @Haunted_Tree

No, early previews were lukewarm. A year ago. Recent previews have said the game is amazing with Kinect, and totally lag-free, and that playing with a controller feels like a second-best option.
  • Beano #11 1 year ago

Not surprising at all, MS desperately need "Kinect games" and pays for timed exclusives instead of using the same money for developing new titles for the device. A silly decision since it's clearly a title that can be easily (or even better played) with a normal controller - people claiming otherwise are fooling themselves.

    september,
    include steamworks and steamplay
THen i will play on PC using my mouse and keyboard :D
or MOVE or Wiimote or touch screen

pc gamer still allowed to dream right? :D
  • Dave52 #13 1 year ago

I don't mind waiting, it has the potential to be amazing with the Move. Rez HD would rock too - good call Accordi0n.
  • Widge #14 1 year ago

Hm. It won't be lag free, but lag compensated. They won't be able to just remove it. You can get around it with clever design though.
  • orangpelupa #15 1 year ago

btw since launch, Kinect's lag is keep being reduced.

first time i playes kinect sports its very laggy. you can see it if you flap your hand fast in Table Tennis.
But somehow, the lag become less and less laggy. Now when i flap my hand fast, the delay is much much less.

maybe microsoft is keep updating kinect in the background?
from what i see in xbox privacy, you have the ability to opt in and opt out of Kinect sending data back to microsoft.
  • Widge #16 1 year ago

Don't know what it is like in sports but I certainly feel it in adventures. I remember reading review on here saying that Sports does a really good job of disguising it.

I think over time you learn to compensate, hence lag appears less. My tv is meant to be quite laggy for gaming but I don't even notice anything any more.

btw if kinect conneted to PC with zero "Smoothing", its almost no perceivable lag between body move and on screen.

but yeah kinect adventures is lag. Its the most laggy kinect game i ever played...
but the "hole in the wall" game mode is so much fun >_<
  • orangpelupa #20 1 year ago

    @davisorle

i already using some kind of similar thing with Hydra since a few years ago. i use Wiimote on my PC :D
but using it to aim and shoot is still not as good as mouse :(
    there a delay
    cant detect very small movement
shooting making the wiimote move a little bit, hence destroy aiming if play sniper.

maybe hydra will be a lot more precise and stable.
  • jarek98 #21 1 year ago

Maybe you have to play it to understand it, because after watching the trailer I have literally no interest in the game...
  • menage #22 1 year ago

I don't care for the wait. Move seems essential for this so I'm good.
  • Syrette #23 1 year ago

Got to love how anyone 'defending' the Kinect functionality of this is getting negged.

    @jarek98

It's probably not for everyone. Did you ever play Rez? If you like that you'll like this.
  • Feanor #24 1 year ago

I'll play this with the controller on the 360 or PS3.

"If oyu have any more games like Tumble in mind please let me know so I can put my Move to good use"

If you like puzzle games, then Echochrome 2 (designed for Move) might be right up your alley as well.

I want to get it too, but since I have PSN+, I'm waiting for a discount (or hopefully free :) )
  • ronuds #26 1 year ago

I thought latest previews said it was rather fun with Kinect. Or are we supposed to look away from those types of articles?

well if anything being the controler when playing this will probably send you WEST! not that I condone such behaviour :/

and to those bitching about kinect's line-up, there are a number of games announced and confirmed for 2011 although we won't see gameplay til E3
  • metamorphic #29 1 year ago

PS3 version was always delayed; this has been known for a while. The only reason they made it officially public was because some idiot at NeoGAF claimed the PS3 version was canceled (later proven to be obviously a hoax by the game's developers on TSA & Twitter).
  • TheEnforcer000 #30 1 year ago

This game was designed from the ground up for Kinect. It appears that not many on this site have bothered to read the previews around the internet. I'm looking forward to both that and gunstringer. 2 games built for Kinect that would suck hard using alternate control methods (including move, ps fanboys...uh I mean Eurogamer readers).
  • Lin #31 1 year ago

love it, but i'm not buying a console just for this. PC please.
  • Golgo #32 1 year ago

@TheEnforcer000: hope you enjoy it playing the proper way, as god originally intended, i.e.: looking like an E casualty 20 years too late for the rave. Alas, my wavey-davey/bigfish littlefish days are over. I prefer to sit on my fat ass when playing games. My loss.

Looks like a pretentious on- rails shooter. Queue people who say I just dont get "art" and simply cannot comprehend its brilliance or I should go back to call of duty.
  • BuckEntropy #34 1 year ago

    ^No I'll just say:

You obviously don't get how awesome a pretentious on-rails shooter can be.

    Your loss. :)
  • menage #35 1 year ago

How is this pretentious? Because it uses colors next to brown and grey?

  • JediMasterMalik #36 1 year ago

The name is pretty pretentious, if nothing else.
  • menage #37 1 year ago

How so, still don't get it. P

    ": characterized by pretension: as
a : making usually unjustified or excessive claims (as of value or standing)
b : expressive of affected, unwarranted, or exaggerated importance, worth, or stature "

How does a title like Child of Eden come off as more pretentious than something like Deus Ex or God of War? If it's the biblical reference I'd say you're reading too much into it imo. We're not talking about El Shaddai here or something, that I would understand a bit better.

And I also don't get why a game which is trying to have a little bit more substance conceptwise is automatically called pretentious. Way to keep stuck in the dark ages. Being different or not like something else, isn't pretentious by default.
  • JediMasterMalik #38 1 year ago

Deus Ex is pretty pretentious too, God of War isn't at all, cause it's closely tied to the story and makes perfect sense.

Just saying using a name like Child of Eden sounds pretentious and artsy. I'm not even saying that's a bad thing or that the game doesn't deserve it, I'm just saying I can see why people might think the game is a bit pretentious.
