Eurogamer bank holiday updates!

Portal 2 face-off! RAGE! Jacko! Wrestling!

First things first: congratulations to everyone in the UK who booked next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday off work, scoring an uninterrupted sequence of 11 days to sit around in your pants playing Portal 2.

See you on Tuesday 3rd May – assuming your eyes haven't atrophied into useless foggy lumps after that much time on holiday.

Some of us are doing that too, obviously, but not all, and we are certainly not planning to let you down with any shortfall in lovely, sparkling feature content – not during the gap between bank holidays, nor on the holidays themselves.

So what do we have in store for this coming bank holiday weekend?

Weeeell, among other things, you get to read our thoughts on RAGE, following a massive presentation and hands-on in Utah earlier this month. If you want to know what we made of the multiplayer in particular, check that out.

Meanwhile, Oli has a fascinating chat with Portal 2 writer Erik Wolpaw about how writing the game actually worked, thoughts on the characters and why video games should emulate Caddyshack.

And if you've been wondering which version of Portal 2 to pick up, Digital Foundry has your back, with an extensive feature documenting and comparing technical aspects of the three versions released.

We also have Ellie's take on Michael Jackson for Kinect and Move (can you imagine), a retrospective on a much-loved adventure game, and another tenuously relevant article about wrestling by yours truly.

So really there should be lots of reasons to stick around, and we hope you'll join us. Whether or not you do though, have a lovely bank holiday weekend.

Surely anyone with the choice of platforms will go for the PS3 version? I very much doubt that an average 1-2fps performance advantage on 360 is going to outweigh a free Steam copy and cross platform saves/co-op. Though it will be interesting to see how Leadbetter spins his write-up to make that the case.

@orangelupa - can you access Steam from your country so you can buy it on PC? I agree with you that it's crazy that publishers refuse to release in some parts of the world because of piracy, it's not like they're giving the people there any other choice, especially countries which either heavily tax or flat out disallow imports.

I dont see why the ps3 is automatically a given, sure a free pc copy is nice but i would go for the version that more of my friends would buy for co-op. As has been said theres not a great deal of replayability in the solo campaign.

@waggy - true enough, that's a major factor when it comes to a gamer choosing his SKU, but it shouldn't be a factor for comparison, though I suspect when the Face Off is published it may well be.

    @murton
unfortunately my download speed only 30KB/s, and my debit card is not accepted on steam, and steam's price is much higher than normal retail price for PC game here.

Normally PC Game is sold at 35 - 40USD new here.

ugh... i confused its stupposed to be EA that the distributor for Retail Portal 2.
and most EA Games are released on my country too, but why not portal 2? O_o

    this is weird...
dev/publisher blame PC piracy, but the game itself is not being sold so how to get original game lol

hmm maybe because Valve have never blame piracy....

What's up Tom? Usually with these bank holidays you usually say something along the lines of "I am forced to give the lazy gits a day or two off, I would lock them in if I could". You going soft or have you come to accept what needs to be done? ;)
