Kaos promises "exciting" Homefront DLC

Xbox 360 profile freeze update live.

Kaos Studios has confirmed first-person shooter Homefront will get "exciting" downloadable content and promised to continue to support the game.

Following last night's news that owner THQ had let go 17 staff, Kaos has vowed to continue to support the game.

"We have a full-time team here at Kaos Studios dedicated to ongoing support on the technical side," reads a post of the game's website, "as well as development of a wide range of exciting DLC that we're not quite ready to talk about just yet, but hope to unveil to you in the very near future."

"We'd like to thank you for your continued patience," the team added, "and assure you that we will continue to support our multiplayer community for many months to come."

In a statement issued last night confirming lay-offs at Kaos and Saints Row developer Volition, THQ moved to calm fears that Homefront would be left out to dry.

"Kaos has a dedicated team in place that will continue to support Homefront with an ongoing, robust DLC and content plan, as well as working on pre-production for future games.

"We have made changes to ensure that the team size aligns to the current stages of internal product development."

Meanwhile, the promised Xbox 360 Homefront title update is available now. Kaos expects it to address all profile freezing issues. Further improvements are in the works, too.

"and assure you that we will continue to support our multiplayer community for many months to come."

That sentence alone would be enough to put me off buying the game.

I hit rank 25 last night and I'm still loving it, Battle Commander mode adds a lot so it's a bit strange why it's not available from the get to and the party issues that plagued it should never have happened.

The servers are still busy though so I can't be alone in enjoying it.

Precisely Whizzo, and you're not alone either - I hit 26 last night after giving up on Crysis2 MP for the moment. Had some absolutely awesome games of battle commander ground control, some of the best multiplayer fun I've had. That mode is *so* much fun.

    Months??
Perhaps this is good enough for the console people but not for me.

Heaven forbid that a game can be praised on the merits of its gameplay.

The game doesn't look that bad and is infinitely better to play than Crysis 2 which has those "current gen graphics" you are after.

Online is great, there is no denying that, however, the Single Player campaign is woefully short, pathetic really as the who premise of the story is 'the story'. I traded HF for Crysis2 which technically is in a next gen league. Crysis2's campaign is pretty solid also. I will re-buy HF when it's cheap, fixed and is bundled with all DLC, not before.

Personally I just hated the multiplayer mode, it's so imbalanced. The fact that you have to be level 27 to enable different perks kills it. The higher the rank you are, the easier things become. This just locks down the game from newcomers even more so that FPS usually do.

Eddie - yeah the friends bit is broken. PrivateFloyd joined me once, but we got disconnected. It's really annoying as unless you join the session separately I'm not sure how it can be played with friends at the moment.

Mr Brown - I've been able to swap out infantry abilities since the start i think, and vehicles perks for at least 10 levels - I'm only level 26. You even get an extra perk point to spend at level 25. Not sure where you're getting that level 27 stuff from.

FFS EG, the amount of spam this site has been getting lately is disgraceful, please sort it out!

Anywho stopped playing Crysis mp as the p2p system just fails badly and the hit detection is based on luck rather than skill, damn shame because the sp was incredible...note to Crytek with a game of this calibre you need dedicated servers.

Homefront's 32 player console extravanganza on dedicated servers on the other hand is just brilliant, got to level 55 last night and finally managed to get into EU lobbies with at least five friends on live, when it works HF's mp destroys Crysis hands down! (granted it's not as pretty but meh! who cares)

Word of warning though skirmish mode is p2p and it shows at times with everything from lag and hit detection probs.

Have they fixed the servers yet? Traded mine in after ten days of that mess.

    still shite servers so selling

    Online this game is shit!
It might have good ideas but that doesn't mean shit if you have buggy dedicated servers. And the singleplayer is a joke. Press x to enter a messed-up texture mass grave would've been more appropriate.
I am glad i only played this at my nephews house and didn't pay 60 euro for this pile of crablouse.
    Garbage bin material.
Brink will be the new way forward!

    @DDevil

Most certainly. Exciting and homefront together? They went a bit blatant with it.
