I just don't like the settings (from the small amount of screenshots). I prefer the dark, gritty streets of New York as that's what MP was about to me. Still, I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised by this.

If it has a lengthy funhouse level, insta-buy.

I'm glad they finally explained the face he makes all the time.

@CaptainQuint: if said Funhouse level involves a brief go kart Grand Prix, ten minutes in a cupboard with the twins and getting to shoot Pat Sharp at the end then I'll also consider it an insta-buy!

    Just not sure.

If the gameplay is good and fun, then I guess I'll be happy. I haven't seen anything yet though that suggests the game will still feel like Max Payne. The style, writing and acting were core to what gave MP its appeal, and part of me worries this is going to end up like Army of Two.

Looks like they listened to the fans and went back to the drawboard, not too sure why we have one shot of a supposedly bald max and the other with hair?

Oh and please get the original voice actor to do max, it was one of the best things about his character, was quite glad to hear his voice pop up in Alan Wake.

    Payne and Lynch?

I don't think they've listened at all to be honest. I think the pic of Max with hair is just during the intro of the game, before he leaves for colourful Brazil. Something happens, he goes mental, shaves his head etc,. Maybe you get to play as Max when he was still in the NYPD as well, via flashbacks or something; I don't know, but then I wouldn't mind the new style so much.

From what I have seen (and that alone), it doesn't look like a Max Payne game. I really would've preferred more of the same with updated graphics. I'm still going to buy it; have to give it a chance at least. Fingers crossed.

Flashback and present day story by the looks of it. I guess that might make it more appealing to fans but it seems so off base compared to the old games. Wait and see though, not like we have seen much.

Reminds me a little bit of splinter cell conviction.

  • Iain815 #17 1 year ago

Fuck. I was really hoping the delay was them going back to the drawing board.

The guy with hair does not even look like max payne are you sure thats suppose to be max payne? , also its a shame the origonal voice actor could not do the role as well.

Still looks like a reboot, that im putting up there with dmc as the most far from the origonal game as they can get.

Atm the only reboot im really intrested in is tomb raider.
