UPDATE: A source has indicated to Eurogamer that Capcom's suggestion that additional downloadable characters will be sold for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the result of a mistranslation.
Capcom issued a press release today to announce Capcom had shipped two million units of the game. It reads: "Additionally, downloadable content in the form of new costumes and characters will be available over the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace, which will further extend the game' s appeal and drive sales further."
Eurogamer understands this incorrectly suggests Capcom will add new DLC characters to the game, and instead refers to the already-released Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath.
ORIGINAL STORY: Capcom has shipped two million copies of three-on-three fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
The Japanese company described its series revival after an 11-year hiatus as "successful".
"Capitalising on the resurgence of the fighting game boom that began last year, Marvel vs. Capocm 3 was able to exceed its predecessor and ship two million units worldwide," the company said.
"Additional" new costumes and characters "will be available", Capcom said, suggesting the sale of Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath is just the beginning of MVC3's DLC fighter fun.
Meanwhile, Capcom has released the first Shadow Pack DLC for Marvel vs Capcom 3's Shadow Mode.
It costs 80 Microsoft Points or $1 - the mode itself is free.
Your 80 MS Points gets you three AI teams to beat up.
- S.T.A.R.S. Occupation - Special Forces Unit. Character 1 - Chris. Character 2 - Wesker. Character 3 - Jill. NOTE: Even if you haven't purchased the Jill/Shuma Gorath character pack, you can still play against the STARS team.
- Street Fighters. Occupation - Fighting on the Street. Character 1 - Ryu. Character 2 - Chun-Li. Character 3 - Akuma.
- Vampire Girls. Occupation - Stalking in the dark. Character 1 - Morrigan. Character 2 - Felicia. Character 3 - Hsien-Ko.
Eurogamer's MVC3 review hyper combo finished with an 8/10.
