EU PlayStation Store Update 30th March

Swarm! The 3rd Birthday! Ghosbusters!

There are no new demos on the PlayStation Store this week, but there are new games, new special offers and downloadable content by the truck load.

The games to focus on are 8/10 action puzzler Swarm - made by DeathSpank and Penny Arcade Adventures studio Hothead - and The 3rd Birthday. The latter is a showy PSP crime shooter by Square Enix that involves a steamy, "erotic" shower scene.

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime turned out to be a load of old ectoplasm (4/10 - Eurogamer).

There are new cars for new and good (8/10 - Eurogamer) racing game Shift 2: Unleashed. And DragonForce's wheat/chafe separator "Through The Fire And Flames" arrives for Rock Band 3. This made headlines way back with Guitar Hero III - how times have changed.

Disappointing final Mass Effect 2 DLC, The Arrival (5/10 - Eurogamer), also shows its face.

And would you look at the obscene amount of DLC for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters - are you sure it's not a free-to-play game, EA?

No Back to the Future Episode 2?
  • lucifonz #2 1 year ago

As expected no Free Realms on the EU store despite the US getting it yesterday. No doubt with SCEE at the helm and their usual track record we can expect to see the EU version of Free Realms in about 6 months time.

Should there be a trial of Moon Diver? US has one. Looks like an impressive Strider game, from Square/Enix
  • GamesConnoisseur #6 1 year ago

Back to Future Ep2 is out in US Store as of last night and like lucinfonz say re Free Realms out too, plus Parasite Eve 3 is out there now instead of Fri.

Plus as always... differences in prices mean US is much so cheapo...

Too bad it's : EU minus a few countries.

A game called The 3rd Birthday with an erotic shower scene...
    Interesting.
  • RampagedDeath #10 1 year ago

No Rush N Attack: Ex Patriot ? I played it on XBLA and enjoyed it. Was hoping to buy it off PSN today but it looks like that won't be happening now.
  • BBIAJ #11 1 year ago

When can we expect to see Ridge Racer Type 4?

Don't the U.S. already have that too?
  • gooner77 #12 1 year ago

The DLC situation on Tiger Woods 12 really takes the piss. Typical EA
  • drxym #13 1 year ago

Holy crap look at the DLC for Tiger Woods. Does the box even contain a game at all?
  • JonnyPx #14 1 year ago

When will SONY reduce the price of full PS3 games? Mass effect 2 is something like £47.99, that is just such a rip off. You can go into Game and get it for £40, and even you search online when it first came out, places like shopto were doing it for £35! They are just greedy, as they have literally ZERO
  • DreadedWalrus #15 1 year ago

I can't believe it. Some of those DLC courses for Tiger Woods used to actually be in the game back in Tiger Woods 04/05 era (Predator, Emerald Dragon e.t.c.), and yet they've been taken out and made available paid-for DLC for the past four or five years. No wonder 05 was the last Tiger Woods game I bought.
  • Loser #16 1 year ago

    JonnyPx,

They reiterate every single week that "SONY" don't pick the pricing, the publishers do.

i havn't played a tiger woods game for years, and quite fancy playing one again.. but no way after seeing that. That is taking the piss.

I bought ME2 new from a store for £25, but anyway theres super stardust DLC and its only £1.50 :D
  • TheEarlOfZinger #19 1 year ago

Chime super deluxe is mine. Just as soon as I rid the world of dead nation zombies.
  • Onelove1867 #20 1 year ago

I'm incredibly bored at work, and I think I lost count a little towards the end, but give or take a few quid or pence, that's over £154 worth of DLC for Tiger Woods.
  • sonicyoda #21 1 year ago

  • superfurry #22 1 year ago

The entire costs of the Tiger Woods DLC is €200.46, add that to the €50 for the retail disc and you're looking at €250 for the complete 2012 Tiger Woods.

Fuck you EA. Fuck your scabby, money grubbing faces.
  • GamesProgrammer Verified Games Team Programmer, Eutechnyx Ltd. #23 1 year ago

    @charliechan

You would of hoped the publishers being allowed to set there own prices would of caused some kind of price war to shift product, but its like theyve all agreed to be robbing bastards alot of the time. I

Some times i do wish Sony would put in a rigid price structure \ price points, but then that might just put people off developing for PSN.
  • Aiten #24 1 year ago

I am pretty sure that the publishers are the ones telling them the price points for full games. They need to keep buying physical products viable right now and letting Sony undercut with their lower costs would mean less sales for them on the highstreet.

This is especially true of mass effect because its ea publishing. Though yes Sony are money grabbing most of the time the blame for this can't really be laid at their feet.
  • Mkwone #25 1 year ago

Is Tiger woods all DLC or is it paid for unlockables so you don't have to play the game?
  • parablax #26 1 year ago

errr- so where is free realms???
  • SeesThroughAll #27 1 year ago

If it's a choice of "sell your game at the slightly cheaper price Sony demand" or "don't sell your game on PSN at all", of course the devs/pubs will go for the former.

The truth is, this doesn't work that well anymore when you have less than 30% of market share.
  • HiddenAway #28 1 year ago

    @parablax

    See comment 2

Europe was always intended to get Free Realms after the US. Releasing an MMO isn't exactly the easiest thing to do in the industry.

    This should be the headline!

"Rock Band 3: "Spinning Wheel" Blood, Sweat & Tears (£0.99/€1.49) "Black Magic Woman" Santana (£0.99/€1.49), "Operation Ground And Pound" DragonForce (£0.99/€1.49), "Somebody To Love" Jefferson Airplane (£0.99/€1.49), "Through The Fire And Flames" DragonForce (£0.99/€1.49)"

BMW was my favorite track for GH3, so stoked that I can play it in Pro Mode now! And "Through The Fire And Flames" in Pro Mode looks just crazy ... :D And good for the whole band too.

Nice to see the Super Stardust add-on too, will definitely use this as an excuse to play that some more.

That TW stuff is hilarious. The only useful add-on for a golf game is the Move controller. :p
  • mumblyjoe #30 1 year ago

EA can fuck right off! Is there actually any content in tiger woods 12? I would imagine most of that is already on the disc as well.

Also a demo of Shift 2 would be nice EA, i'm still on the fence with that one.

  • knightmt #31 1 year ago

Come on EA TW59 already, I don't say this everyday, but holy fuck. I have learnt from past experience most of the downloadable coarses are very similar and some of them are outright dogshit(the hawaiian one for instance). Saying that I will probably still go for the classics idiot that I am.
  • drxym #32 1 year ago

@HiddenAway it's not hard to see why games release sooner in some regions than others. Localisation must be a huge pain in the ass. It's even worse for MMOs. If the game were launching in 5 languages you need servers for each language and admins for each language and a pricing model to account for different rates of VAT and even currency across the EU. It must be a nightmare to deploy. It's easier to start with the US and work out from there.
  • menage #33 1 year ago

    Jesus Christ Tiger Woods.
  • like3cokecans #34 1 year ago

    Castlevania Reverie is also missing............
  • Toothball #35 1 year ago

    @Arwin

Yeah, it's not too bad a selection of tracks, although admittedly I'll be getting them on Xbox. Quite looking forward to some Santana, and I was amused to see Through the Fire and Flames available for Pro mode. I think I might give it a miss though, too hard for me.
  • like3cokecans #36 1 year ago

There are FOUR demos this week, not none. You even listed them!
    Chime Super Deluxe
    Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime
    Swarm
    Moon Diver
  • silversun #37 1 year ago

Has anyone tried out moon diver? it looked like an intresting shooting type game by square enix .
