    Are you sure these are 3DS screens? I'm not so certain...

    Wow, I got negged because these screens are now listed in the 360 section. They were in the 3DS section, sorry Eurogamers.

    Yeah, those are pics from the arcade version. Evil Ryu isn't even on any of the home console versions, let alone the 3DS.

    Sure thing. In Final Ryu Volume 2, Ryu and Akuma are having a bit of a scrap. In the fight, Akuma does his old Shin Goku Satsu - pretty much lethal - and Ryu is impaled on Akuma's fist (some of it states that Ryu's heart stopped beating at that time, meaning he is undead i.e. not so much Evil Ryu as Zombie Ryu). This is ALLEGEDLY where he absorbs the evil energy - although I'm sure canon-wise the timeline is debatable - and turns to the darkness in order to exact revenge on Akuma, destroying him in the process.

    This is of course one angle to the story - Gouken is supposed to be dead after all - so don't take it as gospel, it's only a theory based on previous works. However, the fact that Evil Ryu gestures ripping his heart out at the start of a match does lend just a smidge of credibility to the theory.

    Of course, this could be looking too deeply into it and it could all be "Cuz it's cool innit?". Remember we've had in the past Evil Sakura as well - so let's not jump to too many conclusions!
