Dragon Age II sales: Xbox 57%, PS3 22%
21 per cent on PC.
More copies of Dragon Age II were sold on Xbox 360 across UK shops than any other platform - by far.
Chart-Track told Eurogamer this morning that Xbox 360 commanded 57 per cent of the total, whereas PS3 managed only 22 per cent.
The remaining 21 per cent was attributed to PC. Chart-Track doesn't count digital sales, such as those made on Steam.
This sales picture suggests that Dragon Age II on Xbox 360 is the better console game. But that's not the case; actually the PS3 version was ever so slightly preferred in Eurogamer's Dragon Age II face-off. The overall winner, however, was PC - providing you have the goods to power it.
The full UK top 40 chart, which Dragon Age II topped, can be found elsewhere on Eurogamer.

Only if there were an equal number of potential customers for each version. Or if you don't know the first thing about statistics.

this statement suggests that everyone who buys the console version owns a PS3 & a 360 or that they will buy the best version of the game regardless of weather or not they own the console it was made for.

Never thought I would say this....but there are to many games coming out all the time. We just cant buy them all....

In the interests of balance.

It is a shame the game was never realised in it original form. Hopefully Bioware will reward their loyal RPG fans one day.

So that means McDonald's hamburgers are better than fillet steak, and Fords are better than Ferraris? FFS.
'More popular' != 'better'. Unless you're a complete child with a grasp of logic no greater than a meerkat.

Some prefers the mouse, keyboard and higher gfx of PC, better fps and accepting higher frame torns of PS3 or vice versa of X360 as in my case.
Cant stand frame tearings is ehy i m chuffed with X360, but this time around, compared to ladt game, actually the gaps between each refuced quite a bit more.
So nitpicking much?!

The difference with the products you mentioned is that Steaks are more expensive than a McDonald's hamburger. Fords are cheaper than Ferrari's. DA2 costs the same accross consoles so your comparison is flawed.
Anyway, the PC version was the best - why fight over which inferior version was better than the other?

I expect it would suggest more that PS3 owners have already had plenty to spend their money on this year, whilst the 360 release schedule has been more sparse, so they probably have more money to spend.

They are disgusted with no vsync in their version.
Actually it's probably nothing to do with that, but i thought i'd throw it in.

Decent recently released 360 games are to be fair a little sparse at the moment. It may explain the big difference just a little

Honestly. Baldurs Gate 2 and Planescape: Torment were ace and that didn't sell any copies on the consoles. I want more RPGs that don't sell any copies on consoles. Thats the only way to free them of console taint.
CF: Fallout games on consoles. Bla bla bla.

Erm, your sarcasm would be better if the PC sales figures for this title weren't actually stronger than the PS3 (given that a good proportion of owners will buy through non-tracked digital sales).

Or the fact Bioware was making xbox brand titles since Kotor versus whole 3 games released on PS3 so far (DAO, ME2 in January this year, DA2)

As for the replies, of course price and other factors are important too. You've kind of made my point for me. My point is you can't attribute commercial success to any one given particular factor, there's just not that level of cause-effect going on. There area myriad of reason why PS3 and/or 360 owners might go for the PC version instead. There are many reason why pure console gamers might pick the 360 or PS3 version over the other. Where is the evidence that people have picked the 360 over the PS3 version because it is (or they think it is) 'better'? have EG actually asked anyone? Have they done any research?
Ha, sorry, 'research' = 'journalism' doesn't it, as oppose to 'rewording press release and posting flamebait opinion pieces'.
My opinion : multiple console owners were put off DA2 PS3 by the fairly shoddy quality of DA1 PS3. Bad first impressions last. The relative quality of DA2 versions is irrelevant, since very few people other than journalists will actually ever see both side by side anyway.

So Sony may have got €50 from users for PS+, but it may well end up costing them more over the longer term in lost sales/license fees.

I don't understand the "dumbed down" statements. The gameplay is largely the same, the only really big difference is from the dialogue options with a more pre-set character, rather than the completely custom one from the original Origins. I think that was a bad move but I don't see how it's "dumbed down", it seems to have been done to create more of a cinematic experience.
And Origins itself sold very well on consoles so I don't see why the blame for these changes falls on them, it's clear that there was a market for that type of thing on consoles.
But really, why is the original game considered more "intelligent" or whatever, it's not like it was Baldurs Gate. Get over yourselves.

Hey, Spartan.
And 21% in the UK, with no digital downloads no less - impressive. Must be even more of a smash hit on the PC anywhere else.

Btw just in case you decide to read this and start frothing at the mouth and yada yada yada rather than re-read the article the next line starts "But that's not the case; actually the PS3 version was ever so slightly preferred""
The point is that the number of sales suggests very little with regard to the relative quality of the versions. The next sentence doesn't qualify the first, it sets up a false counterpoint, as though it were some kind of mystery that the XBox version sold more even though the PS3 version is of slightly better technical quality. It's not. Installed base alone accounts for a whole lot of the difference. Developer fanbase (Bioware has a much longer track record on XBox platforms than on PS3) could probably handily take care of the rest, so we don't even have to go into more subjective (and contentious) issues like quality of recent releases.
So it's not just the one sentence - the entire paragraph is guff, and feels like either filler or a deliberate attempt to stir up an interplatform flamewar (because we certainly don't have enough of those).
