Deus Ex Human Revolution release date

UPDATE: GAME confirms UK date.

UPDATE: GAME has told Eurogamer it now has a confirmed UK release date for Deus Ex: Human Revolution: 26th August, as expected. It has updated its website. Eurogamer understands this is the date Square Enix will announce later this week.

ORIGINAL STORY: A shop has jumped the gun and announced the release date for Square Enix's hotly anticipated science fiction role-playing game Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

It's due out in Australia on 25th August this year, according to EB Games.

It'll no doubt launch a day later, on Friday 26th August, in the UK. Eurogamer has asked Square Enix for comment.

In December last year Square Enix delayed the launch of Deus Ex into its next fiscal year, which begins in April 2011. The Eidos Montreal-developed title was due out early 2011.

"With weak sales performance of console game titles that have been newly released during the current fiscal year as well as harsh market feedback regarding a key title, the Group recognizes the reinforcement of development capability in our Digital Entertainment segment as our most critical managerial issue," Square Enix said in a note to investors.

"We therefore have decided to spend additional time to further polish our upcoming game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, resulting in a shift in release timing from our prior plan of the current fiscal year to next fiscal year."

Alec Meer went hands-on with Deus Ex for Eurogamer last month.

Nooo that's so long to wait >.<

In other news...Yay finally a release date. And it should be pretty damn polished by then. I hope.

Later than I was hoping :( oh well can try and complete the mountain of games that has built up in summer!
  • dudefella #4 1 year ago

too long! Should've released it like, NOW, there isn't much in the way of competition. Hopefully they're polishing the game and/or putting in more content (unlikely, probably DLC)

If every publisher made these decisions regarding quality then I'd be a much happier gamer. I'm delighted it's out this year, at a time when the industry is typically in drought. I'm also delighted that due care and attention will be paid to it after playing 12 months worth of horribly broken releases.

I can deal with August, take your time on this one folks. The original was a wonderful experience and I want that quality with this one!

This is instabuy whenever it's released. The more polish and bug free it is the better. Please make this one count SE!

Disappointed but at the same time happy about this. Too many games to finish already, not to mention Portal 2 coming out soon(ish). Summer tends to be a void for decent games and this will do far better as a result. Nice one Square!

Fair enough - about the same time Batman came out a couple of years ago, and I think that did pretty well.

The week before my birthday, think that's this year's present sorted as long as it reviews well.

Any news on the EU Augmented Edition? It seems to be listed for pre-order in a few places but no agreement on availability or price...
  • beastmaster #12 1 year ago

That's great news! It's far enough away for them to work till perfection and also well before the Xmas madness.

A superb summer blockbuster of a game!

My best mates dad brought it back from japan, it been out there for ages, he says its rubbish, you cant jump very high and theres no multiplayer
  • Mister-Wario #14 1 year ago

jonbwfc: I think the Augmented Edition is about 60 pounds on play.com.
  • smithdown #15 1 year ago

Spunkweazle - is that sarcasm, or are you a complete moron? Assuming the latter - Deus Ex isn't an FPS, it's an RPG. As a result you can probably upgrade Adam so he can jump higher, but that is your choice. As for no multiplayer - thank Genesha forthat. I'm sick of having to play games with dipsticks like you to get value for money.

" Deus Ex isn't an FPS, it's an RPG" You can play it like an FPS though :)

  • spekkeh #21 1 year ago

Excellent. The period round now is too crowded anyway. DA2 this week, portal 2 in April, Duke Nukem and LA Noire in May, and that leaves us a short summer holiday before the new game seasons kicks in in August with Deus Ex.

It's a long wait, but I just want this to be good. Take your time Ubi, get it right.
  • mukki #23 1 year ago

    fine with me,
lots of good stuff to play before then...
but one does wonder why this game is constantly being delayed...
it cant just be the tired old excuse we want to make the best game we can make but hey...
plus who plays games in the summer? I would assume less people do or?
but all good looking forward to this one!

"It's a long wait, but I just want this to be good. Take your time Ubi, get it right."

It's being made by Square Enix/Eidos Montreal mate.

The key product that got the harsh market response for SE... FFXIII or FFXIV?
