Flashback creator working on PSN shocker

Amy is post-apocalyptic survival horror.

Paul Cuisset, the man behind classic '90s platformer Flashback, is on the comeback trail with Amy, a post-apocalyptic survival horror game for PlayStation Network.

The game, developed by Cuisset's VectorCell studio and published by Lexis Numérique, puts you in the shoes of a girl called Lana who's just survived a comet crashing into her home town.

However, chaos reigns on the streets and Lana finds that she's been infected by a lethal virus that turned much of the human race into sociopathic mutants. Her only hope of survival is teaming up with a mysterious youngster called Amy.

As well as solving various puzzles together, you'll have to use Amy's special powers to fight the infection coursing through your veins.

As the infection spreads Lana will pick up new powers of her own but left unchecked and she'll transform into a mindless beast.

As far as combat goes, you can choose whether to fight or flee from the monsters stalking the earth. And it seems these aren't your average braindead uglies - they'll hunt in packs and be able to pick up your scent or detect your heat signature.

No firm release date has been set as of yet, but the game should be on PlayStation Network in the second quarter of 2011.
