New Crysis 2 demo announced for 360

Still no PS3 date though.

Forthcoming FPS sequel Crysis 2 gets a new Xbox 360 multiplayer demo next week, publisher EA has announced.

The new demo, which hits Xbox Live on 1st March, will include two maps - "Skyline" and "Pier 17" - and two gameplay modes - "Team Instant Action" and "Crash Site".

As previously announced, PC users can get their hands on the demo on the same day. A PlayStation 3 version is also on the way, but EA hasn't confirmed a release date for that as of yet.

Here's hoping it'll be a little more polished than the first multiplayer demo, which launched exclusively on Xbox 360 last month. Players reported regularly being disconnected from the game's servers and screen freezing during the matchmaking process.

The full experience arrives in stores on 25th March for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

'Crash Site' is a slightly ominous name for MP beta demo map....!?!?!

Missed the first MP demo, but will try this on as the vids have looked impressive.

Sorry if im wrong but weren't those two maps the ones that were on the first demo?

Sounds like the same damn demo to me - although they might have fixed the wifi issue. I could only connect to games over wired.

Two multiplayer demos?! How about a single player demo!
  • Vin #5 1 year ago

Would it kill them to make a SP demo? Y'know, for those of us not figged with MP.
  • Pumpatron #6 1 year ago

Boooooo! I want a single player demo.

ps3 screwed over still.....turning me off this even more than the average MP demo on 360 (yes i have access to both consoles so not a fanboy!! i just know other who are getting ps3 version)

Lol they really don't want PS3 owners to buy it do they?

Excellent news, I'll be all over it. The beta was great, once they sorted out the connectivity issues.

Good to see they're putting their development efforts where it counts.

I think those of us who use the PS3 as our main console better start to accept the fact that the signs aren't good for this release ....

I'm not worried about ps3 version based on what the config file stated , should be similar to 360, but here is where issue lies. The 360 version was kinda shite. Unless they drastically have reworked the fundamental flaws which ruined the beta for me, then it will be pretty blah on both consoles. Sp might be worthwhile regardless of whether they sort out mp or not.
I'm wondering why the are releasing a "2nd demo" , sounds desperate to me, guessing they scared from feedback Off original and want to try get people interested again after tightening it up a bit or they simply worried about sales after feedback.

I don't care for the multiplayer of Crysis 2. The singleplayer looks interesting, multiplayer kinda meh so I'll probably won't be playing that. Why two multiplayer demo but no singleplayer demo?
  • wobbly_Bob #15 1 year ago

im starting to think the single player is short or crappy or both. why not give us a single player demo?

I have not got much faith in the ps3 version, months ago it was ment to be running better than the 360 version. What are they hiding?

I thought there'd be a more positive buzz for this one, I think it looks ace from the videos...
  • tiny_Eggy #18 1 year ago

What a joke. 2 different demos. Just patch the old one.

It is same demo basically, skyline and pier 17 were on previous demo. So hopefully they have fixed it , as it was mess before. Will try ps3 version too, which by all accounts of ppl in know suggest will be more or less same, with pros and cons on both. My guess as to why hasn't appeared before now is simply ms got them tied down till some time in march , to make up for lack of exclusives as they been doing with other games like homefront and dlc etc etc

I wonder if it will actually be possible to get into a game on this one?

    No it's not my connection/NAT/anythingelsetodowithmyinternetormyxbox.

I don't know where this 'MS paid Crytek for exclusive demos' spiel is coming from - Crytek themselves have stated that the only reason the 360 is getting another demo is so people who have already played the game can see what changes have been made.

    A post from their site:

"Guys, the PS3 demo is coming as soon as it's available, just as the PC demo is coming as soon as it's available, it's nothing to do with favouritism and everything to do with what's ready and when. We would love to release all 3 demos at the same time but that means that 2 parties would have to wait whilst the 3rd is completed and that's not fair either. The reason the Xbox 360 is getting another demo is because it's ready and because it allows the previous demo users to check out the updates/changes made since the previous demo. Cheers!"

If what they say is true, then fair enough, but I wouldn't believe word of it tbh lol
    Most likely just PR bs.
They released a 360 beta a while back now , and no footage until recently of ps3 version, I'm still going with timed exclusivity

I liked the first demo. Will probably get when it comes out.

Too many decent games coming in a short period of time. Its hard fitting in work around playing all these new releases.
