"Six weeks of hits" announced.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Episode 1, tower defense classic Plants vs Zombies and ubiquitous feather-flinger Angry Birds are among the grandstanding titles heading to Windows Phone 7 this Spring in a big new games push just announced by Microsoft.

The Must Have Games for Xbox Live promotion also includes iOS platforming phenomenon Doodle Jump, aquatic racer Hydro Thunder Go and geoDefense.

Microsoft confirmed that all games will come "complete with Xbox LIVE Achievements, leaderboards and more."

No prices or release dates have been announced yet for any of the titles but we'll keep you posted.

That's quite good in fairness, WP7 does need more games and Plants vs Zombies is just what I need to waste away the day, just needs Peggle now

Sounds great. My next phone will likely be a Nokia, and Nokia are now buddies with Microsoft so WinPhone7 is looking like my next mobile operating system. Would like to get some of these games and bolster my Xbox Gamerscore. I hardly play my X360 but at least with one of these phones I can still use Xbox Live regularly and keep my profile alive.

I never got around to playing past the trial of Sonic 4 on XBL, so I might go for that on WP7. I'm definitely interested in the Hydro Thunder game as well.

@gamerBOB - some (by no means all) Samsung phones have failed to take the update. Most have been able to restore them. A few have been bricked. From all I've read, it seems to be a very small percentage. As it is, I'm still waiting for Orange to push out the update anyway

True, but there are some very good free ones, and I imagine the price will go down as the platform matures. I think standard price points closer to the other major platforms will be found in the next year or so.
