Telltale to revive King's Quest series

Sierra classic gets episodic treatment.

King's Quest, Sierra Entertainment's classic PC adventure series, is on the comeback trail, with a new episodic title in the works at Telltale Games.

Speaking at an event last night, as reported by Joystiq, Telltale marketing chief Steve Allison announced that the project would be "multi-title" and "multi-platform".

"Much like we did with Tales of Monkey Island, we're rebooting King's Quest with all new episodic games and multiple series," he explained.

No further details were offered, but Allison promised more would be revealed at E3 in June.

Seeing as there hasn't been a King's Quest game since Mask of Eternity in 1998, perhaps a quick history lesson is in order here.

Kicking off way back in 1984 with quirky PC classic King's Quest: Quest For The Crown, the hugely influential third person point and click series was the brain child of adventure game guru Roberta Williams

Seven sequels and numerous ports followed, as well as the similarly successful Police Quest and Space Quest spin-offs.

The franchise has been in the news recently following license-holder Activision's to-ing and fro-ing over a fan site offering the original game for free.
