Set save points in endurance races (being able to save every other hour or something like that) for the next patch, please. I desperately want to drive those 24 hour races but can't because I have a job and friends outside of PSN. :(

Great game just keeps getting better, cant wait to try and run b spec racers from my computer at lunch times, i for one hope these feature packed updates keep coming.

The "invite friend's driver" to a B-spec race looks good.

Might come in handy for my mate as he's on parenting duties at the mo.
  • Trent_Steel #5 1 year ago

Does it still take me 10 minutes and about 6 menus to actually get to a race?

Absolutely love the driving in this, but the slow speed and fiddly nature of everything else makes the whole experience a bit too much like hard work.
  • Kill_Crazy #6 1 year ago

Really want an invite/ join friend option for online lobbies, hopefully comes with the next patch.

I think this comment about the AI says it all about GT5's AI

"Race choreography and opponent car AI controls for licence tests and A Spec events have been adjusted."

Race choreography. The cars follow set pats, not actually race. Hence the bumber car effect.
  • admj83 #9 1 year ago

One problem for me is that with many cars (mostly race cars) the sound from the air and from tires dissapears in many cars NOT ALL. This ruins the atmosphere its like driving in a studio. Still the best driving game though.
  • NotSoSlim #10 1 year ago

    @Caimbeul

Maybe thats a translation issue as original press release would of been Japanese.
  • kingcrowbar #11 1 year ago

I'd imagine the licence tests need choreography as they need to be repeatable until you get them right.

And thank god the startup message is gone. So annoying to start the game, go off and put the kettle on then remember to come back and press X so the game will actually load.

The custom music in multi-player is weird. Are they afraid they will get sued by the music industry if someone tries to broadcast music over voice chat?

I hope they patch the dealserships soon to show ownership status, just a little tick will do or number owned plus RM status if they are feeling generous.
  • banjo21 #12 1 year ago

The clue for the next patch is in the detail descriptions for this one, i.e. how many other games have to explain where you might find the on-line/multiplayer elements of the experience?

Sort the UI out, fix the shadows and get some decent on-line hoppers in place that auto restrict the cars (but vary through a series of races).
  • effinjamie #13 1 year ago

Still no time trial leaderboards? For f**** sake!
  • Beano #14 1 year ago

"Race choreography. The cars follow set pats, not actually race. Hence the bumber car effect. "

Not true - AI cars compete individually, makes mistakes and also try to overtake the player. Not saying the AI is the best but a huge improvement over the previous games.
  • Beano #15 1 year ago

"The custom music in multi-player is weird. Are they afraid they will get sued by the music industry if someone tries to broadcast music over voice chat?"

I was thinking the same ting - a weird limitation to impose.
  • Haq-1 #16 1 year ago

"The lap times for the [X Challenge] in [Special Events] have been adjusted."

Hopefully they have made this challenge possible to do with a controller now.
  • DrStrangelove #17 1 year ago

Me too. The difficulty of the X challenge is fucking insane.

Edit: doesn't seem so. I don't remember the previous exact times, but it seems to be about the same. Nigh-on impossible with a pad, you'll probably have to practice that several weeks long to even have a remote chance.

I expected this when they announced the car. I knew driving it wouldn't be any fun, just a big pain in the arse.

aggghhh. have a bit of cash to spare (for a change) and am wracking my brain whether to buy a ps3 + gt or things I actually need

And the people who do that also have "Plus Percunium Quam Sensus" as their family motto (I think my memory of Latin is correct).

    @kingmong: do it!

Edit: got it completely wrong (according to Google translate): pretiosior quam sensus

There was me getting excited thinkin i can finally complete this challenge, win the car and test it out! :(
As much as i would love to get a Logitech streering wheel, dont think i can afford it.
  • SvennoJ #22 1 year ago

@Kingcrowbar I hope they patch the dealserships soon to show ownership status, just a little tick will do or number owned plus RM status if they are feeling generous.

It's in there, and it also shows a tick for cars you own in the online and used car dealership.
Being able to add weight and reduce HP is the best improvement for online imo, finally people can't exclude the car you want to drive anymore by setting the hp just a little too low or weight a little too high.
Next they need to add an option to only allow cars of a certain class so the bickering can stop about what is a street legal car or which car is not real etc.
  • IronGiant #23 1 year ago

Blimey, If I put GT5 in my ps3 now it'll be updating for about a week ;) as said earlier this game will need reviewing again soon, maybe an update to the original review would be useful?

Exactly. I read some of those bullets 4 or 5 times trying to make sense of them, hoping to convince myself they were the changes I was hoping for. Final assessment: why in hell should this be so complicated.

Oh well, maybe I'll load it up and see whether they sneaked in some fixes I care about. Mainly, can I race for more than 20 consecutive minutes without finding a pen and paper and taking notes, and then running through enough configuration screens to install a typical operating system?
  • effinjamie #25 1 year ago

    @kingmong
I'd say leave it for 6 months or so and a few more patches and you'll get a much better experience in the end.
  • aphexstwin #26 1 year ago

so thats 900mb+ in patches then? im glad that theyre patching some of the games' faults, and for free no less, but doesnt this show that the game was rushed to release? and doesnt it show why it needed a strenuous beta test?
  • cyber_nicco #27 1 year ago

I had sort of put this away awhile ago out of some frustration with the bugs and incomplete features, but it seems time to dust it off and get racing again...
  • arremelle #28 1 year ago

Some excellent additions in there. I am really excited to try the online B-Spec Mode. Still wish it had a save option though, it really seems unfair. What is there is a powercut after 23 hours of racing?

It will be some time, and a few more patches before everyones needs & desires are satisfied. Here are my few desires for updates in the game:

    - A race for every car in the game, with a medal for each one. This could be a separate item on the home screen 'Manufacturers cup'. A great incentive to purchase/win every car in the game to complete the entire cup series.
    - Save options in the Extreme races. I play with a joypad at the moment, there is no way I can play for 4 hours let alone 24 and I dont like the idea of leaving my machine on pause overnight, wasting electricity rendering the same screen over and over (in GPU, not TV)
    - Medals for completing Seasonal events. If there are 5 races and you complete them all, there is no medal or rewarded, there should be something to give further satisfaction for completing the set.
    - Some kind of indicator that I already own a car before I purchase it. This drives me crazy. I have to use an iPad app to keep a count of all the cars which I have bought already. Wouldn't take much to add a small icon with a counter next to it.
    - Email notification ability for the online store and dealership to say when a car is available for purchase. To get to 1000 cars+ will mean checking the dealership everyday for a car you are after. If I could be emailed when its instock, that would be really handy.
    - Jog Shuttle controls for the replay (unless I missed them). This would be really nice and save a lot of time also.
    - A big ask, but perhaps very gradually they could model the standard into premium models. I think this could be chargeable item, perhaps £5 for 50 premium cars, with price breaks for larger packs. Eventually all 1000+ cars in the game could be premium removing that blemish from the games quality. It could also mean that the Main dealerships could sell more brand new cars.

Ok thats enough from me :) I for one, cannot get enough of this game and am very grateful to polyphony for continued updates which polish and already excellent game.

On the subject of re-reviewing the game, i think Eurogamer could add an post-update score to the end of this article. A score to say 'Had these features been in the game from the start, the final score would be..9.5' etc.
  • Felwyn #29 1 year ago

complaining about grind and bugs in the offline parts of the game is irrelevant as it should just be a preparatory stage for where the REAL GAME actually is --> MULTIPLAYER. If you think anything else you don't know what racing is.
  • TheBrow #30 1 year ago

Sounds great; this Performance Points addition plus the ability to use Course Maker tracks sounds like it could be the making of online races.

I think I'm certainly going to have to upgrade my old 40 gig HD now.
