EA trying to fix crippling Sims 3 bug

EA is trying to work out how to fix a game-breaking The Sims 3 bug that locks up PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.

EA told Joystiq it's "continuing to look into it".

The console crashes occur when the game attempts to automatically or manually save, according to InGamingWeTrust.

"When you save your game the screen will freeze," reports the website. "After 10 seconds you will notice your entire console is frozen. This has been confirmed for both Xbox 360 and PS3. When you load your game you can play as long as you want, but if the game attempts to auto-save or if you try to manually save the game will freeze. Some extreme cases report the game becoming completely broken and unplayable."

What to do? Save often and hope for the best.

The Sims 3 launched on console last October. Keza MacDonald reviewed for Eurogamer, awarding it an excellent 8/10.
