PlayStation Plus users get it first.

Impending gangster sequel Yakuza 4 gets a playable demo this month, publisher SEGA has announced.

PlayStation Plus members get a headstart on it from 16th February, before the riff-raff jump in on 23rd February via PlayStation Network.

The demo will let you try out all four playable characters ahead of the PlayStation 3 exclusive's full release on 18th March.

Earlier this week, we learned that the latest entry in the Japan-set mobster series apparently packs in over six hours of cut scenes. Still, judging by Eurogamer's 8/10 import review of the game, they should be well worth wading through.

I don�t need the demo to know I�m going to get this, Y3 was really brilliant, I just wish they�d do an HD remaster of the pre-PS3 versions for those of us who missed out on the PS2 classics.

Another bonus for being a PS+ member though, they're really starting to stack up imo.

Agreed with all of the above. Shonky and maybe old-fashioned some of the mechanics in the game maybe, it should still not put folks off of one of the Playstation's great unsung franchises.

X201: Same here. Hadn't played one before but loved it. So glad we got it and they're bringing out the sequel

though, is anyone able to tell me whether Y4 is as cut as Y3 was?

Y4 is nowhere near cut to the same degree. Hostesses are back and they have left a great deal more of the side missions in.

On a seperate, yet somewhat related note, I *really* hope we see Yakuza: Black Panther on these shores.

It's certainly on course to have it. I think it's just mind-numbing trivia minigames that have been cut.

I wonder if they couldn't package translated Kenzan, with Of the end for international audiences, and sell as a set along the lines of "alternate Yakuza", "Yakuza (what if?)" or something?

I'll definitely be checking out the demo that's been announced, here. I know basically nothing about this entry, so, at least it ought to be interesting.

A fangroup has translated every cutscene from Kenzan and put it up on Youtube. I hope that Sega sees it and hires them to make a 'cheap' release of it if this does well.

I usually don't look at demos, but I enjoyed Yakuza 3 so much, that I tried the Yakuza 4 demo afterwards (Japanese version). While the graphics are still kind of mediocre, they look incredible to someone who just finished the predecessor. Reminded me of the feeling when I played Ultima Underworld 1 and 2 back to back.

One thing though, it seemed that the running speed was actually toned down (maybe to enjoy the graphics?), which got on my tits in the demo already. If at all, I would wish for faster movement.
