New Nintendo Wii Kirby game announced

First trailer hits the net.

Nintendo has announced a new Wii Kirby game that looks like a revival of unreleased GameCube platformer Kirby Adventure.

A trailer, which you can see below, shows Kirby moving from left to right in classic side-scrolling platform action.

According to translation work by neoGAF poster FINALFANTASYDOG, Super Smash Bros. developer HAL Laboratories is at the helm. A 2011 Japanese release is planned.

Kirby's Epic Yarn is set for release in Europe next month, but has already won rave reviews in Japan and the US.

    Nice gotta love kirby imo one of the best gamecharacters from nintendo
  • Kami #2 1 year ago

    Indeed Tonne. It's quirky and inoffensive and I certainly wouldn't think twice about introducing my niece to the magical cartoon world of Kirby.

    However... taken out of context... *evil grin*

    Great. Just what we need. Another backwards looking 2D platformer that does nothing to push gaming forward.

    Where is Epic Yarn?

    I introduced my nephew age 9 to the wonderfull world of the orginal Nes,
    He's now hooked playing the timeless classics like Kirby Donkey Kong, Mario 3,
    It's good to see those games being enjoyed by the new gamers,

    Man alive, put a lid on that simmering rage. It's a kid-geared, fun game. If you really wanted cleverness in 2D-platforming titles, perhaps you should play Epic Yarn?

    Otherwise, if that's the extent of your insight, I wouldn't miss you much on this forum.

    'localise' it quicker than epic yarn

    Please sell me on your next Kirby game Nintendo BEFORE WE HAVE THE PREVIOUS ONE.

    Epic Yarn was not planned as an Kirby game. Somewhere in the production phase they changed the the main character to kirby, because auf marketing decisions. Epic Yarn is nonetheless a great game!

    This new Kirby game is a "real" Kirby game :)

    This is an adult gaming site. That's the demographic. Hence the allowable swearing. If it's for kids it shouldn't really be on here. You could argue that some of us have kids and need to be in the know for our little ones. I say bollocks. Use Megaton and keep it off here.

    Kirby is not aimed at kids anyway, it's aimed at the Japanese who are all a bunch of fucking weirdos, they love tentacles, rape, used panties, slime and pink blobs.

    I really dislike any Nintendo gaming IP though (other than Prof Layton), so am probably a little biased.

    @Timotei

    Ha. A little biased, eh? Well, since you're taking the conversation in that direction, I could give two flying fucks about the appropriateness of language usage.

    My point is your tone, with which you have proven once again to be utterly despicable. I'm not talking about the demographics, more that it obviously isn't your cup of tea, and thus the big question mark on why the fuck you even bother to post such an inane comment on a game you don't like -- along with all other Nintendo IPs, apparently -- in the first place.

    And Japanese as weirdos? WOW. Just wow.

    So are you to them, and any culture against another. If you're talking about EG being an adult site, then why don't you keep your goddamn racist comments to yourself, fuckwad.

    Of course, now I just realize you're nothing but a petty flamer on this site. I wish so dearly that EG had ban hammer to flatten human stains like yourself.

    Tsk. Kirby games are like buses. You wait ages for one, etc etc...

    Looks fun though.
  • Timotei #14 1 year ago

    @dunbain

    Umm, OK.

    I wasn't trying to have a go at you and I was simply stating fact about the Japanese. Their porn-viewing population love tentacles, slime and male/female rape. They have vending machines which dispense soiled panties. This is all fact. I'm fairly sure I'm not being racist. They, to me, are fucking weird.

    I'm sorry you feel so strongly that I should be banned. But if that were to happen all over the country we'd no longer be a nation of free speech. We'd be a dictatorship or worse.

    Anyway, I'm truly sorry if I've offended you, it was never my intention.

    Oh ffs, get a room the two of you.

    MOAR KIRBY!!

    Love this guy, I preordered Epic Yarn last week to get the free yarn Kirby. I wonder if this will be as epic as Kirby Superstar on the SNES (or the DS re-release) because that has to be the best 2d platformer ever. Yes, even better than Mario.

    Great. Just what we need. Another backwards looking 2D platformer that does nothing to push gaming forward.

    Yeah, because all of those shooters and RPGs are really innovative.

    Wow Nintendo, you're finally releasing a REAL Kirby game
  • dunbain #19 1 year ago

    @Timotei

    I appreciate your follow-up. Don't mean to flip out so much, either. Most of the time, comments like that are from people only intending to irritate. The association of tentacles and rape with Kirby is definitely not warranted. It has a quirky world with a character who ingests everyone. Especially coming from Nintendo, with globally beloved characters, there is no way such a comparison can be made, and it was both offensive to people who play Kirby, as well as Japanese.

    Regarding the Japanese comment, I work in Tokyo, born in the Japanese countryside. The "facts" you speak of, are of course real. But they're headline grabbers, anomalies that work as good soundbytes, "oh, look at how wacky Japan is". The reality is a very different society -- did you know that 99% of the Japanese population abhors said vending machines and pornographic depictions? Appropriately, people deride those who like that stuff as freaks (which becomes a different problem in itself, but anyway...) And did you know that there's free-speech laws about to be enacted in Tokyo? That might sound good as an easy fix, but be careful what you wish for -- the new obscenity law has severe implications for games and other media forms.

    The point is, just like the United States is looked upon as insane for its lax gun laws (Wal-Mart gun firearm department, for ex.) Other cultures have a lot of weird and often negative aspects to pick apart at. However, you can't go around damning people wholesale. It is racism, intended or not, and such exclamations don't belong on EG (or anywhere, ideally).

    @Timotei Look what happened to Richard Keys and Andy gray! Better keep your fingers crossed you ain't banned from all internet sites with some of your comments :-P

    Anyway it's nice to see some of the Nintendo old boys are finally showing but where's the likes of Starfox, F-Zero and Pikmin 3 for the Wii as it's been a good few years since they last featured :(
