Exclusive features, 3D for PC Homefront

Plus, recommended system specs revealed.

The PC version of forthcoming THQ shooter Homefront will have full 3D support and a number of exclusive features, developer Digital Extremes has revealed.

According to a post on the game's official site, the PC version gets a number of features over and above its console brethren.

Firstly, you'll be able to control vehicles from both a first and third person perspective. Not only that, but helicopters have additional control options for those looking for a more "sim-like" experience. There will be three settings to choose from: ace, veteran and rookie.

Extra vehicle abilities have been added for co-pilots, such as a Recon function to the Scout heli, and joystick control is supported for all vehicles.

If that all sounds a little complicated, Digital Extremes has added a new Practice Mode to help players get to grips with the more nuanced vehicle controls outside the pressure of a live match.

The PC game also gets a squad management system, with squad-based VOIP, as well as full Clan Support. You can also expect more post-match statistics tracked compared to console versions.

Multiplayer match recording and LAN support are included, and there will be a Dedicated Server Browser Executable available within two weeks of launch so users can set up private servers.

PC gamers hoping to play in 3D will no doubt also be pleased to hear that the title supports NVidia 3D Vision.

Finally, Digital Extremes has released the system specifications for the game, which launches alongside the Kaos Studios-developed PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions on 11th March. Here's what you'll need:

I wonder if we can put those " Homefront developers put extra content into a 360 product, how corrupt and low" attacks to rest now

If I had a preorder, I'd be cancelling it!

My specs are inbetween the minimum and recommended (E6850, 8800GTX). Which in practical terms to me sounds like "risk of running like garbage on medium".

Might risk it though cause I probably feel even less comfortable about getting the inferior 360 version.

It's UE3 so it'll run fine on most anything to be honest. If you can run borderlands fine, you can run any UE3 game well.

A lot of the exclusive features should be mandatory in most FPS war-based games.

So its trying to be more like battlefield 2?

That's great, maybe it'll inspire DICE to go an extra mile with Battlefield 3 this year, competing games improves quality.

im still a bit annoyed about the system requirements. my 2.2ghz core 2 duo processor can play crysis on all high settings and bc2 on all high settings yet its under the minimum requirements to play this. console port maybe?

I dont see any specs shown on the article.

Also am I right in thinking this is THQ's game that they are limiting anyone who buys second hand are preowned to level 5, if you want to level above it you need to buy the full game? Was gunna buy but fuck em, ill save my money thanks!

Perhaps its a game that is really well optimised for multiple cores so wants quad core. instead looking its bad console port think its a really good pc one ?

Personally dont see anything wrong with it, this is 2011 and crysis is a 2008 game

edit: yes directaim you will want the brand new version, but if thinking about getting PC version (which i assume you are if reading this) then cant get second hand anyway, PC is all new these days.

Funny, less than 2 weeks ago everyone seemed to think a GTX460 would be fine for 3D gaming for a good long while.
