Batman, Joker to team up in Arkham City?

Mystery trailer shows unlikely pairing.

Batman and arch-nemesis The Joker will put their differences aside and team up in the forthcoming Batman: Arkham City, if a mysterious leaked trailer is to be taken at face value.

A clip from the superhero sequel, somehow procured by French gaming site Jeux Video, sees the pair joining forces to dispatch a gang of goons.

We've been in touch with publisher Warner Bros. Interactive to find out if the trailer is the real deal or just a slick fan-made fake, and will update if it chooses to respond.

Arkham City, the much anticipated follow-up to Rocksteady Games' 2009 smash Batman: Arkham Asylum, is due for release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year.

That's a painfully obvious fake, although likely a fan devised this as tribute and, as admittedly good as it was, it was mistaken as a trailer. Doubt someone would go to such lengths to make such a fine fake.

100% of the content in this trailer (the corridor from the second Scarecrow encounter, dialogue lines, thug models) is from the first game, and this contradicts Arkham City's premise. Well done, though.

Looks like a very well produced fan made trailer.

The animation is slightly off and the voice samples are from the previous game, good effort though.

Looks fake (can be replaced with awesome as well) although I don't recall Batman being able to launch people over his head or catch TVs and throw them back in Arkham Asylum. Excited about Arkham City as it is, Joker and Bats co-op would be even more WIN. If that is possible based on my enjoyment of the first.

I'm guessing an animator on the team put it together for fun. The dialogue all sounds like it's off cuts from the first game.

    Video removed due to embarrassment?

C'mon, anyone can see this is fake! It's just some good editing by a fan.

    Bad form EG.

How anyone could mistake that for a real trailer is beyond me. All the dialogue is taken from the first game, let alone all the other assets. Or is this a knowing ploy just to get hits? If so, cut it out, I came here from CVG to get away from blatant hit farming. Consider this your first warning.

    Journalism at its finest.

    Holy spoilers Batman!

Ledgers joker was great and probably the best one out of all the films but I still prefer the joker voiced by Mark Hamill in the animated series and in AA.

I agree, the Chris Nolan Batmans do in my mind suffer from trying to be too important and end up coming off as pretentious. Arkham Asylum to me seemed like the perfect pitch for Batman.

I do respect Ledger's performance of the Joker but Hamill's is just more effective at going from eccentric to pure violent lunacy which is how at I at least see Joker. Hamill's best role and one I think he should be remembered for, more so than as Skywalker.

Painstakingly fake, a lot of the animation is crude and far from smooth, something which couldn't be any further from the truth in the case of the first game. The Joker looks nothing like he did in the original trailer for the game when he was sick and dying, like all the dialogue he's been lifted straight out of the first, and finally there's a bit where the Joker is stomping on a goon and there's a good foot of thin air between him and the goon , just far too unpolished to ever be released by Rocksteady.

EDIT: CVG have had a response from Warner saying this content isn't from the upcoming game and has nothing to do with DC either.

"Parents! If you think your kid might be interested in Batman: Arkham City, get them to check it out on Megaton.co.uk, our gaming site for kids."

Arkham Asylum had a BBFC 15 rating...

Parents, if you think your kids might be interested in game clearly unsuitable for them , get them to check it out on Megaton.co.uk and shirk your duties of responsible parenting!

Not bad for a DIY effort. Clearly not from the new game. Interested on the Joker launching Batman, and the TV throwback though. What assets from the game could they of used to get them?
