Akuma, Taskmaster confirmed for MVC3
Need to be unlocked.
Akuma and Taskmaster have joined three-on-three fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 3's roster.
Akuma is a long-standing Street Fighter. He stalks do-gooder Ryu with burning red eyes and a gravel voice.
Taskmaster is a Marvel assassin for hire with a photographic memory that allows him to copy and predict the movements of other people. He uses a sword and shield and has a skull for a face. Really.
Confirmation of the character additions comes from IGN, which has published gameplay videos of both Taskmaster and Akuma.
Akuma and Taskmaster are locked at the beginning of the game. To unlock them, players need to earn Player Points. Akuma unlocks at 2000 PP, Taskmaster 8000 PP.
2000 PP is roughly equivalent to a single playthrough of Arcade Mode. You also earn them by playing multiplayer, doing character challenges and spending time in training mode. Capcom estimates most players will have unlocked all the secret characters within a couple of hours, regardless of skill level,
Two more characters are to be revealed.

Taskmaster?
Christ, Marvel are really scraping the bottom of the barrel in this one.

Don't worry, most comic fans haven't, either. He's a very obscure villain who is basically just a personal trainer that other villains use to increase their fighting skills. He's below Z-List.

I thought Capcom picked the roster not Marvel.

I think both sides pick their own candidates.

He could also be one of the best fighters in this game as theoreticly, he should have every other characters melee moves.

Chances are that Marvel are hyping him up to feature him a a big Marvel event this year - hence the (almost) full Avenger's team being present due to Thor, Hulk and Cap America movies being released this year.

And when it comes to smashing faces in and looking cool, I can't think of any game besides Street Fighter that feels as satisfying.

That Mini is one of the greatest series of last year. If you cant get excited about a comic book featuring a a bunch of day of the dead skeletons with a mariachi band, a village full of Hitlers and interesting uses for youtube. You should check your heart beat because you dead, son.
Also, Tasky's been built up for a while since appearing in Simone/UDON's fantastic Deadpool/Agent X series a while back as well as the Cabal and the end of Van Lente's mini is showing him to be one of the biggest players in the Marvel U in the next while. He's a great choice.
