Sniper: Ghost Warrior sequel confirmed

Powered by CryEngine 3.

Polish developer City Interactive is working on a sequel to successful shooter Sniper: Ghost Warrior.

Confirmation comes from a Eurogamer.se interview with chief producer Michal Sroczynski.

The game will be powered by Crytek's CryEngine 3 game engine, and will release on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

A release date and official title are yet to be revealed.

City Interactive is working on three FPS games, one of which, Eurogamer was told last month, "could be" Sniper 2.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior, already out for PC and Xbox 360, is due out on PlayStation 3 early this year.

I can't believe everyone is so surprised at the success of this game. It's cheap, and it lets you play as a sniper, the two most important things to modern day gamers. Can anyone name a single other game that does that?

My only surprise is that there hasn't been more single player sniper games since this came out.

I haven't played the first, but I will look out for the sequel because I want to play a sniping game.

this game was thrashed allover the place...i wonder if that was the reason it sold well...maybe there's actually something in it. I always wanted a sniper game where the focus was on sniping.... done well, mind.

How about PROJECT IGI 3 on Cryengine 3 also? Now that would balance things out nicely.

there you just gave the answer to your own question

Really hope they learn lessons from the first and make a proper sniping game. Dont want a sim, but 7 or 8 hours of the ghillie suit mission from MW would be just fine.

    What question?

After playing the jumbled mess that was Sniper: Ghost Warrior it became terribly apparent that the name was mostly symbolic, I remember more being forced to walk through enemies camps and take them out at close range, than it allowed me to sit safely at a distance.

Honestly, after the 5th time of shooting up a camp from distance and stiring up a hornets nest, then being forced to walk through that same camp, I pretty much just gave up.

I'm guessing EG is thinking about this your instead of next year for the first Sniper game to arrive on the PS3.

was really tempted by this since it sold so well and sniping games are basically nonexistant, all the bad stuff written about it has put me off tho. Glad to hear a sequal is coming so the potential of this genre has another chance to win my heart/e40

The first one was a success???
Sorry but even though I was originally looking forward to it, the trailers didn't even impress me. That's how bad the game was.

At least Sniper 2 will look visually awesome
