Bungie trademarks reveal new game?

Osiris? Monarchy? Seraphs? Dead Orbit?

Which of these trademarked and domain-registered titles will Bungie use to name its next and still mysterious new project?

Will it be Osiris, New Monarchy, Seven Seraphs or Dead Orbit?

Or none of the above?

Seraphs are top-tier angels, according to The Bible. And Bungie's got a penchant for religious themes, hence The Covenant alien collective, Prophets and so forth.

Osiris is the Egyptian lord of the dead - lore that science fiction Stargate successfully drew from to keep a long-running television series (not to mention the original films) alive.

New Monarchy and Dead Orbit are more self explanatory titles.

Bungie's new game will be published but not owned by Activision. We don't know yet what the game will be, other than that it will be produced for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. But a first-person science fiction shooter is what we expect.

Bungie's Halo: Reach was the studio's series farewell.

    Osiris?

    Matrix: Path of Neo 2 confirmed.
  • Dark_Stranger #3 1 year ago

    Dead Orbit reminds me to much of Dead Space.

    MIIIIIIGHTYYYY EYEZABEEEEEEAAAAAMMMS

    Look up the thrash band Hospital of Death. Eyezabeams of Osiris is a quality tune.

    Whatever they end up making, I really hope they only make one of it and then move onto something else. Why does every game developed nowadays have to become a series?

    Damn, I was hoping for:

    I was hoping for something:

    Not sci-fi and not fps.
  • Lusterpurge #7 1 year ago

    It will probably be "The New Monarchy of the Seven Seraphs: Osiris in Dead Orbit" or TNMotSS:oiDO for short.

    We know nothing about the game and yet you hope there is only one of it made so they can move on and make another new game we don't know anything about.

    You're weird.

    Let it be Monarchy. A fantastic adventure steeped with political intrigue and backstabbing. Knights, spies, princesses, thieves and jesters. The combat system should follow the lines of Mount&Blade, just done with the sick budget that Activision will no doubt offer.

    It could be a religious-themed version of Medal of Honor, given that seraphs are God's Tier-One operators.
  • sonicyoda #12 1 year ago

    @Physically_Insane

    Sorry if that sounded a bit odd; should have put it into context.

    Bungie are one of those developers (like Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Epic etc) that are kind of expected to deliver big budget games and develop them into long-running series' so their publisher can see a good return over a long period.

    I'd rather developers make interesting one-offs then blowing every interesting idea they ever have into one series. I would be more interested in seeing Bungie create something really left-field and suprise everyone. It would be incredible to see a team known for FPSs to create one of the best platform games for example.

    But that's just me. Can you seriously see Bungie developing anything other than a shooter?

    @Apaar

    You abviously didnt read the part in the article were they expect the game to be a Sci-Fi Shooter.

    Personally, killing top tier Angels sounds new and imaginative...like a god of war in reverse...
  • geeza2020 #14 1 year ago

    Or a huge rip-off of Bayonetta, but each to their own.

    "PS3 snags another 360 developer. :D"

    Stupid comment. Neg-baiting attempt at irony or otherwise.

    I'm imagining a new sci-fi universe, created in exquisite detail. Possibly a galaxy-wide monarchy with a King of the Universe (King of All Cosmos?). Maybe the universe is invaded by angels? And you're a knight from the year 3000, who has to go into battle with them?
  • Apaar #19 1 year ago

    @Scopeh
    I do assume and expect it's going to be a scifi shooter. But that doesn't stop me from wishing for something else. :)

    @World_of_WoW

    "PS3 snags another 360 developer. :D "

    Dude, that makes about as much sense as 360 fanboys saying "360 snags another PS3 developer" when DMC went multi-platform.

    What's your problem?
  • randompanda #21 1 year ago

    Published by Activision and potentially named Monarchy?

    It'll inevitably come with an overpriced plastic jousting peripheral then.
  • metalangel #22 1 year ago

    You know what would be cool? Near future space marines. All primitive (by sci fi standards) technology - no artificial gravity, no using recoil weapons in zero G, airlocks and spacesuits and oxygen supplies.
  • Britesparc Verified Creative, ITV #23 1 year ago

    @metalangel

    That would be cool, actually. Almost as cool as my Paladins-in-Space King-of-the-Universe idea :-)

    "I was hoping for something:
    Not sci-fi and not fps. "

    Me too!

    Something medieval - maybe a third-person adventure with a medieval setting?

    Would be interesting to see where Bungie would go with that kind of concept.
  • KevvyMetal79 #25 1 year ago

    Call of Duty: Osiris.
    or
    Call of Duty: Monarchy.
    or
    Call of Duty: Seraphs.
    or
    Call of Duty: Dead Orbit.

    Does anyone think Activision might try a different genre with Bungie ? Its unikely but I think the bets are on a new fps IP. Be it an fps, would love to see what Bungie has to offer outside of intergalactic war.

  • janos #30 1 year ago

    Damn iphone. I want it to be a new Marathon game. The Egyptian theme is there, with Thoth being one of the rogue AIs in the original Marathon series.

    Most probably just wishful thinking, but you never know...
  • Triggerhappytel #31 1 year ago

    It's gonna be a new IP (so no Marathon or CoD then), it's gonna be a series (already confirmed as they have a 10 year publishing deal for this one series), it's going to have heavy online multiplayer focus and knowing Bungie it'll almost certainly be a sci-fi shooter.

    Not that I mind, but it would be nice to see them branch out a little with a different genre.
