Fallout: New Vegas DLC trademarks?

ZeniMax filing tallies with in-game graffiti.

Internet detectives have unearthed trademarks filed by ZeniMax that could point to potential names for future Fallout: New Vegas downloadable content.

All three were filed on 15th December by the publisher for "computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices".

According to the comprehensive Fallout Vault wiki (thanks Kotaku), "Honest Hearts" has already popped up as in-game graffiti – the same way that the previously released Dead Money DLC was trailed.

The other two marks are "Lonesome Road" and "Old World Blues", which may be additional packs due for release later.

Dead Money was released in late December exclusively for Xbox 360 (although everyone expects PC and PS3 to follow later, ala Fallout 3) and won plaudits in its Eurogamer review.

determined to hold off until the "everything included" pack comes out. good to see they didn't have a repeat performance of the horribly broken DLC launches from FO3 though.

Aye i'm waiting for the GOTY edition for one epic run-through.

I am waiting for them to bring it out on PS3. ;)

Going by this I can't wait for the "post no bills" DLC

Still need to finsih the damn main game. Wish it was a bit more creative storywise, NCR are freaking boring compared to the Brotherhood.
  • geeza2020 #6 1 year ago

How many more DLC packs have they got planned? I just want to know how long I have to wait for the GOTY version to be released is all ;-)

@menage : Eh? Did you miss the brutal Caeser's Legion? Or the technocratic Mr. House? Or the smaller groups? The story pisses all over FO3s meagre "save the world" plot and lets you make some interesting decisions in an awesome lead up to the endgame, including one option to take Vegas for yourself.

I'm waiting until they release "ROMANES EUNT DOMUS" and "FUCK NCR" myself... ;-)

As long as these ones don't have insanity generating exploding collars and radios I am downloading day 1.

I know everybody thinks this game is way better storywise, I'm in the minority. But I really miss the really cool sidequests and random locations. The treedude, Agatha, Dave's republic, the Robot presidents, the cannibals and vampires, etc. I do think the main story is better but that's just all there is imo, the only misssion that really stood out was the zombie rocket one, and maybe yes man, the rest is just all encampments, boring military tents as far as the eye can see, and fetchquesting till my ass falls off without something really cool happening.

Dunno, it just takes itself too serious. F3 had this whole history of the US weaved throughout it, spoofing it. This just leaves me cold cause I really don't give a crap about any of these factions.

@menage I think most people agree New Vegas has more of a sense of humour and FO3 was a bit po faced compared to FO 1&2 and NV... You can find a great deal of variety with all the thigns you mention in there as well if you play it. You get out what you put in

    LOTS OF LITTLE SPOILERS

"Spoofing" lore of Las Vegas weaved throughout it (Elvis and the Rat Pack misappropriated and misunderstood by post-apocalyptic tribals? A real "Caesar" in Vegas? Vegas strippers, whores, and a sex robot called FISTO? Mental "theme" hotels?)

There's snowy terrain, an overgrown jungle of a vault, a vault that breaks out into a sulpher cavern where you can see what the outside of the vaults look like underground, a huge lake, a prison, the Hoover Dam... Not to mention the casinos themselves.

There ARE cannibals, and every casino on the strip is full of kooky characters within each tribe, you can get a slightly deranged robot sherrif, a vending machine/robot thats the source of a "gatekeeper" myth, supermutants with very unusual derangements etc etc etc etc etc.

@menage : True, I suppose the content in NV was mostly directed to the main quest, while FO3 was the opposite (random stuff but not as much for the narrative), though there were still vaults and a few places that you could go to and explore (Was it Vault 38 with the crazy mayoral voting?). I suppose NV was more like the original two games but that lead to me thoroughly enjoying it.

Financially it would make more sense to wait for the GOTY, but I've enjoyed both the full game and Dead Money far too much to do this. Can't wait for the next DLC installment.

I just liked exploring the Wasteland in FO3 just to see what I could find indeed. Especially shit that doesnt relate to the main quest. I must admit, I like sidequests more than the main one in these games, just because there's cool loot and wacky stories. NV just felt a bit lacking in that regard. It's still there, most of it just boils down to pleasing a faction or rebelling agaisnt it though.

Trees and snow is all well and good, but frankly it all looks so shit I don't really care about them:D. And the Vaults weren't that intersting in this one imo either. The robots are the most intersting aspect of NV I agree, there's still some fun stuff to do, but I miss finding small incidental stories on the side like FO3 had, there's just too little of them imo. Or they aren't that creative.

I think i'm about New Vegas'd out. Sixty three hours in and I'm just approaching the proper meaty quests. The side quests were so much more interesting than the dreary Strip and wandering the wasteland unearthing new locations was more fun than chasing the main quest line.
  • Moribundman #15 1 year ago

@Dogs>gods By the sound of it you haven't played Dead Money yet. Which is all the more amusing given your name... ;-)

I'm on my second playthrough (or first non-bugged one if you prefer. Or first NEARLY non-bugged if you're being pedantic - Loyal has done a runner and can't be found for Raul's quest). First one ran to nearly 100 hours, second one I am at 90 hours and have only just bothered with the Strip. I've been pretty much everywhere else first... And there are a shocking number of places I didn't even know about the first time round, even after poring over certain quest threads on the Fallout Wikia...

Does it have the trademark gun disappearing while jumping/crouching that the original game has?
  • jackdoe #17 1 year ago

Rule of thumb. NEVER buy a Bethesda game at launch. You either get focked by bugs or focked by timed exclusive DLC.

Unfortunately the current trend is to work on DLC rather than finishing your games!! (via patches and tech support)
