Mmmm .... suppose its exclusive as its in one box?

Legend & Anniversary already been out on xbox 360 & with underworld out on both, not sure how this is exclusive

Not likely I'd buy these again - though I loved all 3 on 360 - but I am curious whether the HD treatment will include 3D support.

Yeah, the more I think about it, some of the big temples in Underworld would look amazing in 3D. (I'm counting on you lads to provide at least 5 jokes substituting t**s for temples LOL.)

This sounds pretty good as long as it's priced accordingly.
  • ZuluHero #4 1 year ago

yeah - i'd like to see HD versions of legend and Anniversary. Although they were pretty HD already so what do they mean, a higher resolution?
  • kirankara #5 1 year ago

bought the first one to come out n 360 and wanted to kill myself a few hrs in despite initially liking it. too much boring platforming, shoddy shooting mechanics and irritating puzzles. wouldnt put it near my ps3
  • nuanimal #6 1 year ago

A Lara Croft costume for Home...

Does that mean short-shorts for guys?

"Legend & Anniversary already been out on xbox 360 & with underworld out on both, not sure how this is exclusive "

I agree - a bit silly to call this exclusive.
  • nomadman #8 1 year ago

That is one "stupid" title!!! How can it be exclusive, when all three games can be bought by xbox360 owners...

also, i am curious what version of Legend was used? From port xbox360 or PS2-upscaled like they did with PoP trilogy box-set

Hmm. I'm not sure what's more annoying. Calling them "exclusive" when they are available on other consoles, or calling them "HD" when they were already in HD.
  • Kenshin001 #10 1 year ago

They weren't in HD. All the games, including Underworld, were sub HD resolution on 360. It is a rather stupid marketing ploy but the fact is if you want the true HD versions they're only available on PS3.
  • NeoKenzi #11 1 year ago

Maybe because its an "HD Trilogy" why its been given the "exclusive" naming...
  • nomadman #12 1 year ago

    to Kenshin001

you don't know this yet - i am most certain, Underworld will be the exact same game as before. Legend - it depends, if it will be upscaled version of PS2-legend, then yes, it is going to be real HD, with really crappy graphics. If it will be port from xbox360 - it will be the sam subHD version with upscale...
  • SHPanda #13 1 year ago

Erm... All are already available on the 360 in HD...

I get that the pack is exclusive i.e. all three in one box, but in what way have they remastered them if they're already HD games? I could get them all for a total of about £15 on the Xbox anyway.

I do hope Sony haven't paid for this "exclusive"
  • nick_f Verified Senior Producer, Microsoft #14 1 year ago

Anniversary and Underworld were 720p on 360. Legends wasn't (600p IIRC).
  • tomjoadsghost #15 1 year ago

meh, its not 'THE tomb raider trilogy' its 'A tomb raider trilogy'.

or does nothing that hasnt been caressed by those gex making sumbitches count any more.
  • VandelayIndustries #16 1 year ago

From DF: "So in terms of owners of Microsoft's box, you're getting the same sub-HD resolution as previous Tomb Raiders Legend and Anniversary (1024x576) while PS3 owners enjoy full 720p - a sizeable increase of 50 per cent in terms of pixel-throughput."

I guess its exclusive as its going to be in true HD which anniversary and legend wasn't
  • MiY4MOTO #18 1 year ago

I'd thought this compilation was essentially TR:Underworld with the previous 2 Crystal Dynamics (Anniversary & Legends) TR games be re-done in the TR:Underworld engine?

Does this mean they're just upscaling / sharpening the old engines somehow?
  • FortysixterUK #19 1 year ago

I'd rather a release of the first 3 original TR games from PS one, after those3 titles, the entire series truly lost direction.
Happily the torch was well and truly picked up by the Uncharted series which became Tomb raider plus in my book.
Anyone remember the appalling Angel of Darkness TR that came out on ps2 ? What a joke that was.
  • onyxbox #20 1 year ago

    if it's £20 I'll buy it
  • sheldipez #21 1 year ago

Play Legend then forget about the rest. Really no need for more of the same.

Once Legend is clear go and pickup the rather excellent Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and wait in anticipation for the new TR.
  • DozyKipper #22 1 year ago

56% more resolution than the Xbox 360 version. Sounds good. As long as the frame rate holds steady. It was a bit wobbly on TR: Underworld PS3 according to DF.
  • Jasugun #23 1 year ago

Legend & Anniversary already exist on the 360, so I wouldn't call them HD remasters of ps2 versions but ports of the 360 build....
  • Whizzo #24 1 year ago

I wish I could play them at a high resolution, oh hold on I did, on my PC.
  • Machetazo #25 1 year ago

Replay Legend, Finish Anniversary, and run Underworld (when you say "full" do you mean with the DLC pack contents of Beneath the Ashes, and Lara's Shadow, this time, perhaps - if unknown, Rob, would you enquire?) one more time (more fun with the doppelganger, no bad thing :) ), and have a fancy XMB theme to show I did - I'm all for it.

"Legend & Anniversary already been out on xbox 360 & with underworld out on both, not sure how this is exclusive "

Not sure, but I think they are referring to the HD conversions as being PS3 exclusive (for now, I guess).

Legend seemed to run like crap on the 360 so I hope that's improved a bit.
  • RawNinjaKid #28 1 year ago

How are these Classics? What a joke! LOL!
  • Feanor #29 1 year ago

Anniversary is a true classic and the best TR game ever made.

Loads of rereleases are HD, but don't necessarily look much prettier than the original. For instance, Banjo-Kazooie on XBLA is 1080p, but the textures are still at N64 standard. I imagine this will be the same for the Tomb Raider bundle as well.
  • FladgeMangle #32 1 year ago

PS3 gets Tomb Raider: The Crystal Dynamics years and 360 gets Beyond Good and Evil HD. Everyone's a winner!

    No. Not everyone.

Maybe it'll come to PS3 too....
  • Froggit #33 1 year ago

    Or

PoP Trilogy was released on PS3 because of the blu-ray space.

The ME2 thing seems to be subjective (based on the DF analysis), but either way, it doesn't look any different because they decided the PS3 could handle it any better than the 360, it's because it's the engine that's going to be used for ME3 on both consoles.

And your last point is bollocks, but let's not go there. Again.
  • Whizzo #34 1 year ago

Well the 360 still has backwards compatibility to fall back on, PoP:SoT (Xbox) works on it. The other two in the trilogy unfortunately don't but as they're not up to much it's not much of a miss really.

Sony should just re-release the PS2's entire back catalogue on the PS3 in HD. Who cares about new games anyway?
  • Pehmu #37 1 year ago

"It is a rather stupid marketing ploy but the fact is if you want the true HD versions they're only available on PS3."

Or buy the PC versions and play them at 1080p or higher with as much anti-aliasing as you want.
  • drhappy #38 1 year ago

all 3 of these games have already been released in HD, when they first came out. i don't get this...
  • man.the.king #39 1 year ago

"Sony should just re-release the PS2's entire back catalogue on the PS3 in HD. Who cares about new games anyway? "

    Apparently you haven't seen Sony's PS3 line-up for 2011...
  • callum9999 #40 1 year ago

To all the people whining, it's exclusive as no other console has the trilogy on one disc...

You may not like the term used in this context as you can buy them separately from elsewhere, but it most definitely IS an exclusive. Just like play.com will advertise an exclusive DVD release with artwork etc. - you can buy pretty much the same thing elsewhere but the version being referred to IS an exclusive.
  • Pehmu #41 1 year ago

They're all backwards compatible. There might be a few bugs here and there since the 360 basically runs these old games on an emulator.
  • technicianTed #42 1 year ago

Hippie_Killer But innovative and exclusive titles that are "different" you can't go wrong with PS3.

What 'different' titles are there exactly on ps3? I can only think of heavy rain and the first lbp game in amongst all the uncharted, killzone's, resistance's, god of war's etc.
The ps3 has caught the 360 disease of non stop sequels it seems to me.

Nice try with your mass effect 2 hopes that'll it'll actually be better on ps3(it won't be), but it made me smile.

Back on topic, i think this'll be a good pack if priced right, TR underworld definitely used a better engine on ps3 than the blurry old 360 version used(the ps3 one looked much closer to the pc version). The trouble is the framerate suffered on the ps3 quite badly at times, but at least they tried something different compared to the smoother but worse looking 360 version.

With trophies added it'll be worth playing through them again.

In Nathan Drake I trust, I could not bring myself to play these 3 after the materclasses that were Uncharted 1 and 2
  • Pehmu #44 1 year ago

Hippie_Killer: "Yes but that would involve sitting at a desk playing with a mouse and keyboard which, to be quite frank, is pretty fucking wank."

Legend, Anniversary and Underworld support the 360 controller out-of-the-box. It's not much of a trick to hook a PC to a TV. Unless they're in separate rooms, of course.
