New Monster Hunter sells 2m in a week

And Japan PSP sales go through the roof.

PSP beast-battler Monster Hunter Portable 3rd has sold an impressive two million copies in its first week on sale in Japan.

According to Andriasang, Capcom's latest moved 2,146,467 units in its first seven days on sale, taking the series' total up to 15 million.

The game's release also gave the PSP hardware a massive boost. 326,639 units were snapped up last week in Japan, compared to 75,689 the week before.

Capcom hasn't revealed a Western release date for the game yet, though you might not be missing too much. Keza MacDonald's recent hands-on report complained "It's arguably too big for the platform that's become its natural home, and too ambitious the control system will never be accessible on the PSP."

Monster Hunter Tri, the last game in the series that did make it to these shores, scored 9/10 when it launched on the Wii earlier this year.
