The Red Faction movie made by television network Syfy has been elbowed back a bit to May.
THQ core games boss Danny Bilson aired the new date on Twitter.
"Red Faction Syfy movie started prep this week! Shoot starts in January," he said, "airs in May with [Armageddon] game release. More to come..."
A May date aligns both the Red Faction film and new Red Faction: Armageddon game. The latter takes place two generations after RF Guerrilla and you, Darius Mason - grandson of Alec Mason - must repel an ancient alien threat surging upwards from the heart of the planet Mars and into the underground caverns you and the rest of humankind sought shelter in.
So far so good: "It's a comprehensive package, reflecting THQ's newfound love of multimedia and its determination for Red Faction to grow into a huge franchise rather than a popular, medium-sized one. Armageddon may be going from Guerrilla to the real underground, then, but make no mistake - Red Faction still aims to tear it up," wrote Eurogamer's Tom Bramwell in an August Armageddon preview.
Red Faction: Guerrilla was released in the summer of 2009. What did Eurogamer think? "Taken as a whole, the net result is a generous game that remains fun despite its frustrations, yet never quite achieves its full potential. Think of it as the game that Mercenaries 2 should have been."
