Oddworld collection heading to Steam

Oddbox gathers all four adventures.

All four Oddworld games will soon see a PC release in the Oddbox pack, developer Oddworld Inhabitants has announced.

Due before the end of 2010, the Oddbox includes the 1997 original, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, its 1998 follow-up, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, 2001's Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and 2005's Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.

It'll be the first time the two most recent games have been available on the PC. Neither Xbox title quite recaptured the quirky spirit of the originals, but Stranger's Wrath came closest, scoring 7/10 from Eurogamer's Kristan Reed.

Oddworld Inhabitants is promising "a few new additions and enhancements", to be confirmed soon.

What's that? You were hoping for a new Oddworld game? Maxis co-founder Jeff Braun revealed he was developing one back in 2008. Then earlier this year British developer Just Add Water announced it was working on the franchise.

    About time.

    Stranger's Wrath woo!

Already have the first two from GoG. Be nice if they use other distributors.

Finally! I've wanted to play Munch and Stranger forever, but never got an original Xbox. The Abe games were a couple of my all-time favorite ps1 titles, so I can't wait for this. It's gonna be a good xmas for me this year.

Strangers Wrath was an easy 9/10 for me. If only it'd been delayed as a 360 launch title it might have got the audience it deserved.

Saw these on GoG too, been perusing with view to buying Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 ... although that's insanity as I have a pile of stuff I haven't even open/installed from last Xmas and through the year too.

I just hope they're not in a Steam sale soon as my list of uninstalled but purchased on a whim will grow (again).

Stranger's Wrath is insanely good. I might end up buying it both on Steam and the PS3 remake.

    ^ You're shit.

    That's right. I went there.

    *EDIT*

Both fantastic games, by the way.

Can't wait for the HD remake of Stranger's Wrath for the PS3!

    "Hello"
    "Hello"
    "Follow me"
    "O.K"

Frickin loved the first two games, never played the other two, so this is a must buy for me!

About time. I actually already have the first three games, so technically I could just buy Stranger on PS3 when it comes out, but this pack looks attractive enough to me (especially if they have a good deal of additions).
  • JamieR #13 1 year ago

Wonder how much that will be
  • Sgt_Petter #14 1 year ago

Stranger's Wrath, finally, I'll get to play that again, never got time to finish it on the orginal xbox, and sadly it lacks support for the 360.
  • Phantom_Dynamite #15 1 year ago

I remember buying Munch near the launch of the original xbox, not expecting much but enjoying it loads. Good news.
  • monkie_king #16 1 year ago

7/10 for Stranger's was an absolute travesty. Kristen clearly didn't play beyond the (admittedly slow) first half. Wonderful game.

Fuck yea! it seems I bought a dongle to make my 360 controller work with my pc at the right time. These games were classics Its a 1st day purchase for me this. I would love to see a new game in the series getting worked on too.

This package was announced last year, and it still isn't here.
  • DaemonSpawn #19 1 year ago

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, hell yeah! It was the game I always wanted emulated on my X360 (still not compatible and won't likely ever will be)!
I wonder if Stranger's Wrath is really the best western video-game as one reviewer wrote.

Best gaming news of the year for me -

I adore all the Oddworld games, but the Stranger's Wrath news is fantastic it was a beautiful looking game on the original Xbox, & the increased resolution will certainly help it appeal to newcomers.
I'm hoping it will include the remastered dialogue, texture upgrades & whatever the "bonus content" Just Add Water are including for the PS3 version.

    Happy Days..

Ooh, I was just about to buy the first 2 on PSN, but maybe I'll wait. Though I guess these will be PC only, not Mac?
  • DrMGinius #22 1 year ago

@DreadedWalrus The PS3 one is a REMAKE?! You mean, like, with GWAFIX?!?!?!?!11?!?!?!!11?!
  • hello_fi #23 1 year ago

Why release these games on a dead format? Should have been released on the consoles.
  • irve77 #24 1 year ago

Eurogamer was a bit mental back in those days 7/10 to Oddworld : SW and 9/10 to predator : concrete jungle !

    mental !!!

( forgive me if my memory is wrong of a review that has been deleted from the eurogamer site ... although i think that tells you everything you need to know about that review )

SW was an excellent game and i personally would say that the original Oddworld games were just flashback/another world games with farts ... solid entertaining sure but not up there with the class that oozed out of O:SW
  • Aurifex. #25 1 year ago

SW fantastic. How the hell it did not do better. All 4 whooo hoo.
