Home gets Plus exclusive Members Club

Multiplayer space combat game added.

Those of you who like spending time in the PlayStation 3's virtual world Home will have another reason to do so this week when Sony launches a new party venue.

The catch? It's only open to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Perhaps that's why it's called the PlayStation Plus Members Club.

Set to open its doors today, the club will greet players with "discrete" doorman who will check your credentials. Inside there's a "stylish" bar area decked out in black and gold décor.

There are discrete alcoves for socialising, too.

Games include Shed, a two to four player card game. There's a cocktail menu and big screen to watch trailers from.

Meanwhile, Sony's added a multiplayer space combat game to Home, called Novus Prime. Hellfire Games' effort features single-player or multiplayer cooperative gameplay. You pilot a fighter craft while defending the world from invading forces. Screens of both the Members Club and Novus Prime are below.

There's more on the PS Home additions over at the EU PlayStation Blog.

I'm glad they're limiting these Home features. It really is a superb service and if too many people revel in its heaven like virtual world then humanity will cease to exist as we know it, a bit like in Batman Forever or the Matrix or something.

Playstation Home, are people still using this?

There's one thing that allways baffled me about the design of Home... I have to queue to use virtual arcade machines, bowling and pool!

Seriously, The whole point of a queue is about a selection of individuals who follow an unwritten law of "they were here first, i better wait behind them to avoid confrotnation". When you introduce a queue to an online world where people see no consequence in cutting infront of someone, then you have created chaos... Chaos I say!

I wonder if you can crash the playstation plus club as a non playstation plus subscriber. If they can add the joys of queuing to a virtual world then crashing a party is surely a key game design feature!

I m a Plus member but reject the invitation to Home exclusive club as its utterly not what I m looking for or indeed requiring this kind of service.

    So there's a PS+ exclusive Home club?

As a PS+ member, my first question would be "what does this offer that is not available to ordinary PSN members, other than an additional virtual world"?
