Last call for Marvel Ultimate Alliance DLC
Activision taking it down this month.
Anyone still playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2? If so, you've only got a few weeks to pick up the Character & Sim Mission Pack DLC.
The DLC, which adds five extra characters and a bunch of new Achievements, will be taken down on 31st December.
The Character & Sim Mission Pack originally launched earlier this year for a limited time only. When the initial deadline came up, late-to-the-party fans got rather upset, so publisher Activision hammered out a deal with Marvel and put it back up. This time however, it's not coming back
Activision's professional friendly face Dam Amrich posted in his OneofSwords blog, "After December 31, it's gone for good. For my sake if not for your own, do not delay, dammit."
Should you wish to get on board, the DLC pack will set you back £7.99 on PlayStation Network or 800 Points on Xbox Live.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 launched last year on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, scoring a rather limp 5/10 from Eurogamer's Dan Whitehead.

Tbh, it's nowhere near as good as the first one. They completely dumbed down the RPG aspects (you no longer choose where to allocate your points), and for all the PR crap about "hundreds of combination attacks!", they actually boil down to the same 4 different combo attacks, just with slightly different visual effects depending on the character pairing.
The story is pretty weak too.
A game like MUA lives and dies on its loot and character development. Sadly Activision forgot this and effectively removed both from this game.
It's also annoying because the removal of this DLC will effectively make it impossible to get the full gamerscore on the title, as the DLC carried an additional 250 points.

It's worth noting if you ever plan on buying it, there is free versions of the DLC so you can play with the people that bought it, much like the Fable II DLC. So download that just now so you'll be able to play online with everyone. There is one for the character pack and one for Juggernaut.
As for buying the paid version, I'll leave it up to you whether the characters sound cool enough. I quite liked the opportunity to use Magneto and Carnage, so I like it. You also get Cable, Psylocke and Black Panther, should you decide to pay up.

Financial or licensing issues will lead to the content you paid for being pulled, whether it takes a year, a decade, or a century, none of what you buy, if it's not a hard copy, is guaranteed to continue existing.
