Blizzard brass ban StarCraft II cheaters

Stability, safety, security are "top priority".

Blizzard has suspended or banned more StarCraft II players for cheating or using hack programs to play its game.

"We recently issued a new round of account suspensions and bans to StarCraft II players who were in violation of the Battle.net Terms of Use for cheating and/or using hack programs while playing," wrote Blizzard on the StarCraft II website.

"In addition to undermining the spirit of fair competition that's essential to play on Battle.net, cheating and hacking can lead to stability and performance issues with the service."

"As always, maintaining a stable, safe, and secure online-gaming experience for legitimate players is a top priority for us, and we'll be continuing to keep watch on Battle.net and take action as needed."

Blizzard has fiercely patrolled the competitive online StarCraft II community since launch, weeding out cheaters and hack users as well as the creators of the illegal programs themselves.

However, the game-maker clarified in October that it will take no action against people using the built-in codes to cheat while playing single-player.

    It's a brilliant game and I'm glad Blizzard is vigilant to ban the cheaters and hackers.

    @gmjapan:

    I've been accused of cheating just by beating my opponent fair and square. With enough practice and perserverance you stop sucking bad and become an okey player. Just keep at it.

    Would love to see Blizz ban people for using the cheats they themselves put in the singleplayer game. What a shit storm that would cause...

    Haven't had chance to play it yet myself. Over the festive period hopefully.

    The same thing happened to me the other day - I was accused of teleporting (?) as a Terran player. I crushed this guy fair and square, as soon as the game was over I reported him to Blizz (in-game). I said the match was there for them to watch, it was only about 15mins long as my opponent was utter garbage. There is no way I want a moronic player to effectively ban my account.

    All I did was dump a load of marines in his base and they went haywire..all his units were, well, not existent....

    @vijay_UK:

    Blizzard doesn't ban people nilly willy so I only find it amusing when people threaten to report me because "I've cheated". Unless you've done something wrong I don't think you should worry too much and there is no need to find proof to counter the guy's statement. Obviously he's a sour immature loser.
