Killzone 3 Collector's Edition detailed

Bumper Helghast Edition coming over too.

Killzone 3 customers with cash to splash will have two special editions to choose from when the game hits European shores next year.

The PlayStation Blog has confirmed that the previously announced Helghast Edition will be available on this side of the Atlantic, along with a Europe-only Collector's Edition.

The Helghast Edition comes in a replica Helghast helmet and includes an exclusive DC Unlimited Helghast scout figurine, a 100-page hardback art book and a PlayStation Network voucher code that gives you access to the following:

  • Unlocks all weapons and abilities for your first 24 hours of multiplayer gameplay.
  • Lets you rise through the ranks faster by earning experience points at twice the normal rate for your first 24 hours of multiplayer gameplay.
  • Gives you 3 unlock points to use on any weapon or ability you want.
  • Includes the Retro Map Pack – bringing two battlefields from Killzone 2 back into the fight.
  • Exclusive Killzone 3 dynamic theme.
  • Killzone 3 soundtrack.

The Collector's Edition comes in special 'Steelbook' packaging and offers the exact same voucher.

Sony hasn't confirmed pricing for either edition yet but in the US the Helghast Edition is retailing for a hefty $129.99 (around £84).

The third installment of Guerilla Games' FPS franchise is due out on PlayStation 3 on 28th February 2011.

How many will die whilst playing this for 24 hours straight at launch!

Hope this doesn't become the norm tbh

    Cock off xixidada51 !!!

I don't want to visit your fucking website and hand over my paypal details so you can rob hundreds or thousands of my monies!.. Although femalegoods.com??? Wonder if they have cheap christmas presies for my gf?

Anyway, I'll probs end up getting the steelbook version of kilzone3, always end up getting the slightly more fancy version of a game I'm really excited for. The GT5 special edition was pretty cool, wish it had been a bit cheaper but hey, gran turismos don't get released every year..

Apart from the art book and maybe the helghat helmet thingy, they should probably just rename these editions the 'n00b editions' because I really can't see them appealing to any real collector.

I loved Killzone 2, but offering a unlocks for a limited time is hardly something a collector would want. Your basically paying to have access to an advantage. A very limited advantage at a rather hefty price. I'm more than happy to stick with the normal version and experience all the new weaponary in a legit and FUN way.

Collector's editions really aren't what they used to be in the PSOne era. Their standards have really been abysmal this gen. I really can't think of anything that was actually collectible in a collector's edition in recent times. The Final Fantasy XIII CE in particular was an abortion. An utter rip off filled with stuff some copy boy doodled on his lunch break. Terrible fan service IMO.

Shouldn't developers be making an effort to make the game slightly more fair to people who don't buy their game on launch day (or equivalent actions such as pre-ordering)? At least it balances out in that there won't be a great deal of people online at that stage.

I don't know if I like how they are encouraging you to play multiplayer over single player first.

I do get collector or special editions when I feel the contents really merits it, adding lots of values or DVD's Extra style packed up.

This KZ3 Collector Edition just seems like a gift for a very lazy people or the obsessed, the ones who wanna get to the top end of leaderboard asap and be sated that way!

Not keen on the contents, as not much that standard players wont eventually reach or get by normal way, as for exclusive maps. That partially self defeating as only a minority of KZ online players will have the exclusive maps until its becomes available as paid DLC.

Would want more stuff but ah I ll save money for the next worthy special edition, hopefully Uncharted 3 etc!

@sfp_noodle - the series does have an excellent soundtrack, though unlike it's main competitor (always praised for also having a great soundtrack) you can hardly hear the music as it is buried beneath sound effects.

I think that is a shame, so it is a good thing it's included in this edition. Should be a staple for any special edition really.
