New titles for XBL Game Room

Blades of Steel, Pitfall II, more added.

A new set of retro titles has been added to Xbox Live's Game Room.

Game Pack 012 offers arcade ice hockey effort Blades Of Steel, top down scroller Trick Trap, classic platformer Pitfall II and the Intellivision's Vectron, with more incoming.

According to GamerBytes, hackers have discovered the following games are also in the pack and due for release soon.

  • Amidar
  • Detana Twinbee
  • Food Fight
  • MIA: Missing in Action
  • Pooyan
  • Sunset Riders
  • Twinbee
  • Off The Wall
  • Thwocker
  • Warlords
  • Volleyball

Make the most of these titles – it could be the final update for the Game Room. Custodian Krome Studios closed its doors last month.

As ever, it's 240 Points for an arcade unit (then free to play) or 40 Points a play on a non-owned machine.

Hackers!? Game Pack 012 has been up on LIVE all day!

Also, how come EG are still reporting Krome Studios as having closed their door,s whereas this month's gamesTM say that Krome themselves have cone out and said that they're actually still operating?

Sunset Riders really? THE Sunset Riders? In Game Room?

Why wait so long to release an actual honest-to-goodness decent game when a few months ago would have been better.

Game Room has been hugely mismanaged. Even if you ignore how easy it is to get MAME and other emulators running on a computer, it's just too damned expensive for what you get. I love the Intellivision and have nothing but fond memories of it, and even I wouldn't pay 240 fucking points for any of the games they've offered from it (except maybe Utopia, and even then that's a maybe). Instead of giving us the arcade games of our youth that we'd want to play again (here are some suggestions: Roadblasters, Dynamite Duke, Super Sprint, Super Off-Road, Alien vs Predator, Bad Dudes, NBA Jam, Hard Drivin', STUN Runner, Aerofighters) we're getting some downright ancient stuff that, while still fun, doesn't justify the price tag.

Sunset Riders should have come out at launch, and this whole story would have been different,

Can I also add in here that Blade Kitten is excellent. It manages to be the '16-bit platformer but for a modern console' in all the ways that the awful Sonic 4 isn't.

I love Amidar. But I echo the comments on here - the majority of these releases are pants.

Impressed that Sunset Riders is on there, about time we started to see games younger than 25 years old. I'd love to see some Taito games appear too. Bring on Rainbow Islands and New Zealand Story!

    @metalangel

Sonic 4 is not awful, I think you just had way too high expectations

The game room is one of the worst mistakes of XBL. It sounded like a reasonable idea but its putting layers between you and your games, plus having to download a game pack for the one or two games you might try is strangley convoluted.

I had bought some arcade classics but didnt even get round to downloading the first gamepack before deleting my gameroom. A sort of 'home' for XBL.

    wow ... what fun !!

a news story to remind me that Games room still exists and wasn't a complete disaster of epic proportions !

Sunset Riders, Pooyan and Detana are all excellent arcade games, I'm not sure I really want to put more money into Game Room though if it's going tits up. If they could have had these standard of Arcade releases from the start, it would have been a different story for Game Room me thinks.

Bah, where the hell is Riddle of the Sphinx? That was a bloody awesome game. Never completed though as I didn't actually know what on earth you had to do to get all the various artifacts. :)
