Free PS3/GT5 with Bravia 3D tellies

Plus: UK-wide GT5 competition underway.

Sony's great 3D push has kicked on today with the release of Gran Turismo 5 - the first stereoscopic 3D racing game on the market, apparently, presumably if you don't count WipEout HD, Ridge Racer 7, et al.

To celebrate, Sony's doing a deal: buy any Sony 3DTV and get - for free - a PS3, a copy of Gran Turismo 5, a 3D transmitter and two pairs of 3D glasses. That amounts to around £500 of freebies, we're told.

A Sony Bravia LX903 telly costs £4,499, according to Sony's website.

The deal starts today and ends on Sunday, 5th December.

Sony's also scouring the land for a Gran Turismo 5 champion. Bravia 3D tellies are being installed in HMV stores up and down the UK to host the competition. Pop into your local branch to post your best time and you could go through to the grand final at HMV HQ on Oxford Street, London, on 15th December.

Formula One presenter Jake Humphreys will host the event.

Sony has many more 3D-enabled games to come. Killzone 3 and MotorStorm Apocalypse in Q1 2011, and the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection at some time next year.

Gran Turismo 5 scored 9/10 on Eurogamer this morning - we went launch crazy with our coverage. You can find it all on the homepage, correlated into a nifty block at the top.

    "A Sony Bravia LX903 telly costs £4,499"

    That is a bit random EG. If this applies to any 3DTV, the KDL-40NX713 (40";) only costs £1500.

    Great deal but since Sonys 3D TVs are so much more expensive than Samsungs 3D TVs you could easily get a great 60" 3D TV from samsung together with PS3 and GT5 for much less than that 60" Bravia.

    Bargain! I'll take three as that will surely make it 9D.
  • LeeroyJenkins #4 2 years ago

    @RodHull - the last thing you should be worried about are TV's. You died trying to sort the reception for one remember?

    @tossetaz

    You've just proved exactly why it's not a great deal at all lol

    Since when was a 3D version of RR7 on the market? Did u mean Motorstorm 3D Rift.
  • TheRook21 #7 2 years ago

    @carrotcake

    There was a free patch on the PSN to add 3D support to RR7.

    Oh I hadn't heard that the Ico pack was going to be 3D. That game inflicted enough vertigo without the use of depth. Adding a third dimension will make that even worse.

    hmm well that TV already comes with transmitter built in and 2 pairs of glasses so it's just a free ps3 & GT5 for that... No sign of the offer on the Sony website either.
    How much advertising are Sony splurging with GT5 and how much are Eg being paid? Seems to affecting their 'news' but recently they have been pretty good at the press release repost.

    Jake Humphrey. That git that has an iPad glued to the palm of his left hand? I'm surec there's an app for that Jake....

    How about I buy the PS3, GT5, two pair's of 3D glasses and the 3D transmitter for £500... and you give me the TV free?

    Any takers?

    You believed that fake death scam? Three words: life insurance scam. Although I now realise you have to have a valid policy to benefit from it. That's why Emu's stuck in that bloody jungle pretending to be a nutritional expert or some other collywobbles.

    Anywho, must dash: there's somebody at the door...

    4.5 grand? BARGAIN!!!
  • Collymilad #14 2 years ago

    Hang on I'll just get that four and a half grand I've got lying under my bed.

    Also, from what I've seen I wouldn't buy a Sony TV. Maybe they were set up wrong but I've seen about 3 or 4 at friends houses and they all look worse than Panasonics, Samsungs and Toshiba's that I've seen.

    What's with all the subtly negative Sony articles recently? Why even mention one of the most expensive 3DTVs available?

    They all seem to be written by Robert too...

    "That is a bit random EG. If this applies to any 3DTV, the KDL-40NX713 (40";) only costs £1500."

    EG is trying to scare everyone off 3D tv's because they don't want to have to review the feature in new games. (If the GT5 review is any indication.)

    "Oh I hadn't heard that the Ico pack was going to be 3D. That game inflicted enough vertigo without the use of depth. Adding a third dimension will make that even worse."

    Don't you mean better? :)

    @Colltmilad I'd reckon they're setup wrong !
  • Bravestinsane #18 2 years ago

    @Darc

    Duh!

    Of course EG don't want to review 3D games, took them long enough to buy a Android phone to review games....how much are they?

    You think they want to buy a 3D TV ahahahhaah
  • smelly #19 2 years ago

    Well i guess they need something to sell these god awful televisions...
