Free Assassin's Creed DLC before Xmas

Animus stress how nice that is.

Ubisoft must be feeling festive, because on 14th December it will release a free lump of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood DLC on both PS3 and Xbox 360.

Dubbed the Animus Project 1.0, the add-on twists the existing Alliance multiplayer mode into Advanced Alliance. This is in addition to the original mode.

Advanced Alliance will be more challenging - something to do with target identification and engagement - and be playable by three teams of two players each.

This mode's new map, Mont Saint Michel - narrow streets, bell tower, rocky island - makes for the perfect killing playground.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood was released earlier this month. It's one of the best games this year, we reckon - and that's saying something.

Eurogamer editor Tom Bramwell explains why.

    Yay free stuff. I am sure it will come in handy once I put the single player game to bed. This might take some time.

    @NimbusTLD

    PC version without UbiDRM sounds better to me.

    Nice, I reckon I'm about halfway through SP, tried a bit of MP last nite and it seems to rock bells. This is most welcome.

    Finished the main SP and now I'm trying to finish the remaining missions... Awesome game indeed; Ubisoft Montreal should be congratulated for a work really well done, in less than a year. And I'm yet to try the multiplayer, which is great last I heard. Glad to see they're supporting it and for FREE...!!! :)

    I thoroughly endorse this event and/or product.

    I just hope they fix some of the balancing issues in MP.

    How about a pressie for PC Ubi, drop your crud DRM and give us a happy Christmas.

    (after that we can address the 6 month delay nonsense)

    Very clever. Instead of a VIP code if you buy early before it starts to be discounted you get some free DLC. As the price drops the DCL will start costing points.

    hmmm not trolliing here at all as I loved the second game
    Ive only played a couple of hours or so of the sp game but it just isnt striking me as a 10/10, game probably way too early to to make an opinion I know but so far it doesnt seem any different to the last game
    im just hoping theres some supprises coming.

    It was with a degree of excitement that I clicked on this story, only to find out that the DLC is for the fucking shit multiplayer that I have no interest in whatsoever.

    Give us some free single player DLC Ubi, you tossers.

    Mont Saint Michel??? SOLD! I went there when I was 10 years old, and climing up and around those stone steps in the driving rain of a coastal storm was the stand-out moment of the whole European trip.

    I'd love to go back one day, at the ripe old age of 32 . . but it's a long way from Oz.
  • MJHaylett #17 2 years ago

    if its not single player content then I don't care about the DLC. Still Free is good regardless :D
  • Madafunkola #18 2 years ago

    Yey! More multiplayer modes are most welcome. The few that are there are good, but it has so much more potential for DLC maps and modified modes.

    @Dan:solo

    Play till you get at least 5-6 assassins at your command, and train em up to highest level - it's pretty sweet having several badass assassins to discreetly take down targets for you - or to run to your aid if you get in a scrap. Also try some of the Leonardo's machines missions, they're a break from the norm as they usually involve fucking up a lot of shit (the tank one and boat one rule!). It's a least an 8 or 9 in my book. Has a good balance of main missions, contracts, side missions, the platformy bits in the tombs, managing and leveling up your assassins, the real world bits and the story are great.

    @ Spong

    The mp is pretty different from a lot of other games and takes some getting used to - it's less about combat and more about how you blend in and use stealth and misdirection. You can't really enjoy the mp until you've unlocked a few perks like disguise and smoke bombs, etc. Nothing like having 3 guys chasing you, only to break their line of sight, duck round a corner - use disguise and casually walk back the way you came - whilst your pursuers run right past you.

    @bratmandu
    Sorry, multiplayer just isn't my thing.

    Besides, I've stopped playing even the single player story since I heard about the raft of bugs the game's riddled with (18 pages worth of reports at the official Ubi forum). So I have a new message for Ubi; sort out your damn patches for the game and stop wasting time developing and trying to palm us off with crappy multiplayer DLC in the hope it'll make us forget the mess the main game is in.

    Have been playing 20+ hours. Seen no bug, no crash, no glitch. Don't believe everything you read on msg forums. Every game since the dawn of time has bugs, usually 18+ pages of bugs, but I find this to be a very well put together game, with a multiplayer unlike any other online game i've played, and very impressive for a 'first time doing mp in a franchise'. I urge you to give it a chance for longer than a few games and make your own mind up.
