Multiplayer BF:BC2 update incoming

PS3 gets it first, PC/360 to follow.

A new multiplayer patch is on the way for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, publisher EA has announced.

The update, which hits PlayStation 3 today, fixes bugs and rebalances various weapons. There's a full list of the changes you can expect to see below.

A message on the game's official site added, "We are working hard on getting these fixes out for both PC and Xbox 360 as well, so in the coming days, look for updates on those platforms as well."

It's a busy time for fans of EA's first-rate FPS. There's a new map pack on the way, as well as a Vietnam expansion. Both are expected before the end of the year.

  • Acog and Red dot scope now equippable on MK-14 and G3.
  • Fixed a bug on PC where the G3 would do less damage than intended.
  • Reduced VADS push back and damage to balance it with the ZU23.
  • Fixed a bug where Vehicle Countermeasures would fail to remove tracer darts at high speed.
  • Reduced the reload time for Vehicle Countermeasures.
  • Slightly increased the AT4's damage vs armor to emphasize its anti vehicle role while keeping it balanced vs armor.
  • Increased the AT4's top speed and acceleration so users spend less time exposed when firing.

  • Increased the 1 shot kill range of the M95 body shot to counter its lower rate of fire.

  • Increased the accuracy of the F2000 on the move to highlight its role as a mobile AR.
  • Increased the close range damage of the shotguns to give them a greater advantage vs slugs.
  • Slightly lowered the damage of the M60 to balance its accuracy advantage vs other LMGs.
  • Slightly lowered the damage of the MG3 at close range to balance it with other high rate of fire weapons.
  • Slightly increased the damage of the UH6

    Erm... Monster. :)

  • frugtkompot #2 2 years ago

Yeah, indeed. Otherwise good post, although it's a shame they've weakened both of my favourite weapons - the AN-94 and M60 :(
  • RedSparrows #3 2 years ago

MK14 with ACOG = Recon is even more viable as a non-sniper, hurrah!
  • SleepyDeathFred #4 2 years ago

So it hasn't fixed the fact that it's possible to headshot someone with a shotgun from sniping distance?
  • BiffTanner #5 2 years ago

    Sleepydeathfred

Those are the slugs rounds you can use in shotgun instead of the normal rounds, unfortuantely its not a bug.
  • Blazewamp #6 2 years ago

wait most of this is already out on PC with last patch
  • SlapLaB #7 2 years ago

Arrrrrg, reduce splash damage of the Carl?
  • Ducklord #8 2 years ago

G3 with red dot makes me a happy panda.
  • MerricK #9 2 years ago

still no fix for random "no network detected" bug - any game made on the frost bite gives me this issue. Only reason I stay away from BFBC2 and went back to cod ... at least cod lets me play a full game.

Err, nearly all of these changes/fixes are on the PC, already. They were even reported here: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-1...

Oh, right, it's DICE completely forgetting what they're doing with the PC version. Aside from the optics for G3 and Mk14, all those changes and fixes are on the PC already.

Nice to see they're still actively supporting the game. Might pop it in my xbox as I'm a certified noob at Black Op's multiplayer.

Best multiplayer shooter gets even better!
  • DUFFKING #13 2 years ago

Hmm, the G3 is insanely powerful as it is...

Really looking forward to the new maps and the Vietnam add-on. BC2 is all kinds of awesome.

Ah about time to, as I can't be bothered to buy another FPS. I already own MW and MW2 along with BFBC2 I have my fix. Battlefield just feels so refreshing, was just a little annoyed with some of the lacklustre weapon damage at times. Hope this fix brings some more balance, but overall this game is still very enjoyable. Just keep the DLC coming, this game has at least another year to go before we need a bonafide upgrade.

Are people still mine spamming the a capture point? Or simply spam them one floor up? Or simply blow up all the houses and win?

Really loved this game until that became the one thing everyone started doing.

Fortunately flags cannot be blown up, so fun is still to be had : )

    edit: typos

Got Battlefield for both PS3 and 360. This game is awesome, and shows COD: Black Ops the middle finger...
  • Soton4084 #18 2 years ago

Good news. BF: BC2 is easily superior to Black Ops and MW2 for online multiplayer.
  • sink257 #19 2 years ago

This is great news, and not to mention looks like DICE are back to patching the game properly, after the hiatus from patching they took whilst developing MOH.

Looks like BC2 will be my FPS GOTY for 2010, infinitely better than other major FPS games released this year.

Good stuff! I'm loving this game to bits online at the moment. Even though I get killed a fair bit, I don't get anywhere near as frustrated playing it as I do when playing any COD games.
  • tiny_jiggypop #23 2 years ago

This is old news by at least 2 months. The PC got all of these "fixes" in a patch 2 months ago -- incidentally, that fail-patch also broke the game by removing weapons tracer bullets and hasn't fixed the chat lag.

DICE fails again. Eurogamer also fails hard for not remembering their article with the same changelog back in October.

  • DragonHeart335 #25 1 year ago

Nevertheless, BC2 is by far the BEST fps game I've ever played. :) Way to go coders at DICE!
