PS3 Lara Croft gets online co-op update

"Huzzah!"

Crystal Dynamics has finally enabled online co-operative play for the PlayStation 3 version of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light nearly a month after it turned the feature on for the Xbox 360 version.

"PS3 online co-op title update is now live! Huzzah!" reads a Tweet from the developer.

Last month Crystal Dynamics said it would hand the first of five planned DLC packs out for free for 30 days by way of saying sorry for the delay – to Xbox 360 owners.

Add-on All the Trappings "offers a brand new area to conquer and features a combination of puzzle, exploration and combat experiences".

We assume this latest title update makes the free DLC available to download through the PlayStation Network.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was an experiment for Crystal Dynamics. A small team made a cooperative adventure (playable by two people locally since launch) as a spin-off to the pillar Tomb Raider series. The gamble paid off in abundance. Eurogamer awarded it a massive 9/10.

better late than never but ive still not been able to convince any of my ps3 friends to buy it, the Lara hate is just to engrained in them now.

Really is a lot of fun though.

Is there a demo on PS3 for them to try? I have it on 360.

    It's such a good game.

What about the PC version? Can anyone confirm if they have added it as well? I was waiting for the update to buy it.

Yeah, there is, or att least was, a demo for PS3. Liked it alot but it also had a lot of stuttering. Don't know if that was solved though..

Also wondering about the PC version of which the article doesn't even acknowledge its existence

They've faffed everyone around enough with this to make me think twice before buying any future product of theirs, despite it actually being an excellent game. Putting co-op trophies/achievements in a game and then holding back online co-op for ages was an idiot's move.

(reference to Mao's comment removed. Since he removed the comment :D.)

I'll buy it, once I have a clear idea of what the gameplan is, in terms of support on PS3.

It would be no good to support the devs and game by buying it, only to find adverse conditions and a lack of clarity (as I have) regarding my version, over another.
After playing and recognising the quality found in the demo, the game looked like it had potential, but that snippet did not scream - buy me now! So, I put it on the list, then found an info blackout.

Which for all, but particularly any publisher understanding, is a situation guaranteed to get my back up. Whilst also deterring me from wanting to support the game.
Moreover, because I was not overwhelmingly motivated to buy the full game on the spot, then I'm less likely still to want to go rooting around here to discover the outcome that Eidos' latest trifle with party politics has had on what I'm most interested in.

edit: Absolutely Jon, very succintly put, moreso than me, but, they've messed everybody around no end, with these games.

I couldn't care less about on-line co-op; if ever a game was meant to be played in local co-op, this is it. Just gimme more content, more story, a full-blown sequel. I need more of this game, my fave co-op game probably... ever? Yeah. Ever.

I have updated and online co-op is now showing up. However there is no sign of any DLC yet - free or otherwise. Some word from the developers regarding this would be appreciated.

To late, not gonna pick it up now, to many other games to play. Also, the really weird attitude towards the PS3 version just put me off the whole thing, and possible future releases as well from Eidos.

It's not really weird... obviously there were some conditions from being part of Microsoft's Summer of Arcade.

Finished it at the weekend, great game. I'm tempted to go back and complete some of the challenges, which I rarely ever feel motivated to do.

Excellent; I just got around to trying the demo the other day on PS3 and thought it was great, but decided against buying it until the online co-op was enabled. That's the decision made for me then!

Just checked, still no update to the PC version. Soon? Surely?

I'm a seasoned TR fan, and I hate this game. Can't believe it got a 9.

This game deserves all the praise and success that it has had....

Some absolutely bizarre comments regarding the lack of on-line at launch. How can you have been "mess around" by a company when you never even bought their product? And comments from another article stating "I'll buy it when it's finished". If this game never had on-line added to it, it would still be fantastic value. I got it for $15 and have had about 20 hours of fun with it in co-op with the wife. That's pretty cheap entertainment in my book. Now that it's got it I'll be ditching her to play with my PSN friends. If the patch coming out now really offended you, then think of it as DLC... that you got for free... with more free DLC coming because this DLC was delayed...

This game is gorgeous to look at, has responsive controls, heaps of collectibles that are actually fun to get, stacks of amusing weapons and power ups, fun puzzles, and re-playability up the wazoo. But that's not enough for some.

Next there'll be the whiners complaining how the game is only four hours long... after they raced through it using the YouTube walkthroughs.

Not buying, in part due to the way they treat the PS3
