Sony Russia confirms Mass Effect 3?

BioWare is preparing to unveil Mass Effect 3, if a tweet from SCEE Russia is to be believed.

A post on the PlayStation Russia Twitter page, translated by RipTen, reads, "The company Bioware for premium VGA showed a teaser in which we can see the first shots of Mass Effect 3."

The clip it's referring to is posted below.

So, is this confirmation of a third full Mass Effect game or just an incorrect assumption on the part of a Sony Russia staffer? We've been in touch with Sony US for clarification and will update as soon as we hear back.

BioWare has been releasing cryptic clues for its as-yet-unannounced new title all week on its Facebook page. It's due to be officially unveiled at the Spike VGA Awards on 11th December.

    Um yeah its the same shit you've posted along wit every other website and babelfished to Russian and back the vague speculation suggests it might be ME3. Or ME:online. Or "Shattered Steel" etc.

    We still get to play as Shepard though, right?
    Just wondering as that isn't shep in the trailer.

    But to be honest we knew ME3 is coming out (it says so in ME2) so if the announcement is that I would be pretty disappointed.

    Everyone know that there is the standard face of Shep which are used in official trailers, adverts, game cover etc. Yet the gamers could choose any kind of Shep they wants.

    Mine is too close to the truth!

    So go figures that the new ME3 trailer WILL be using that official Shep rather than mine or anyone else.

    A kindness I think, as my mug would be too much!

    I'm still hung up on the fact that they put a gun from Mass Effect in the teaser image and then expected it to be a mystery.

    I'm not convinced, ME3 is a given, so a secretive announcement is pointless, has to be new/resurrected IP. The russians are clearly just assuming it's ME3.

    I'd be pleased but mightily surprised if they announced ME3 now. Yes all the 360 and PC fans are gagging for it, but they need to release, build a fanbase and milk the PS3 platform with ME2 for a little while at least. They won't want to distract PS3 gamers from Mass Effect 2 by teasing the third game yet.

    If it is ME3 it's a bit of an odd trailer. From BioWare, makers of Mass Effect and Dragon Age comes... more Mass Effect. Surprise!

    And how does this involve Iron and MI6? Or are they just so fed up with these sorts of encrypted teasers that they've decided to kill the whole idea by spoofing it to death? I do hope so.

    Mass Effect 3 is already announced - its in the damn loading screens of Mass Effect 2 people. The VGA reveal is probably ME Online (count me out of that) or a reboot of their first DOS game 'Shattered Steel' or a New IP???? If it is a reveal of ME3 I will be dissapoint :D

    Ugh, I was hoping this would be something else. I was really hoping. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to buy ME3, but I was hoping this would be Bioware announcing an additional, awesome game.

    Yeah, about that. According to Bioware, 80% of players disagree with you in some form or another. Sorry, mansheps first. :)

    As for the announcement, I dont buy it. Not just because the source is crap and baseless, but because I still think enough of Bioware for them to actually make ME3 more of an RPG (since they claim they listen to fans) as opposed to turning it into a multiplayer shooter.

    Personally I couldnt give a crap about this newly announced title in any other respect than hoping it takes the burden off ME3 forcing in as much shooter gameplay as possible. ME2 did that more than I could handle and it spoilt the game for me.

    Other than that, and Liara returning as a squadmates, Im content to wait for ME3, as Im pretty sure this stupid game isnt it, despite what some kooky russians make up about it.

    I have my RPG credentials behind me, believe me, I was the total nerd that ironman'd BG2 with a thief (no inquis - dispel bollocks no sir).

    Bioware aint the company you think it is, yes they make role playing games, but they aren't limited to pen and paper copying templates. Mass Effect 2 is not simply Gears of War with talking, didnt you get the feeling that you were in charge of shit? That you were making decisions? The characterization was nothing short of spectacular, the universe it was set in is fleshed out and compelling. All I want from Bioware for Mass Effect 3 is improved combat sections, got far too repetitive (the cover system seems to cause that?) near the end, felt like corridor trawl after corridor.

    TLDR : Bioware is no Black Isle.

    80% of players are wrong. Jennifer Hale's voice acting work is infinitely superior. If you are playing a male Shepard, you are playing a 2nd rate Shepard.

    Wasn't ME3 confirmed around the time they released ME and said it was the first part of a trilogy?
