Get Games takes us back.

Can't make your mind up about what to buy this weekend? Our friends at PC download site Get Games have a suggestion – how about Beyond Good & Evil for two quid?

Yes, you can bag yourself a copy of one of Ubisoft's best games ever today for just Ł2. Just head over to the Get Games BG&E page for details.

BG&E was released in late 2003 and won massive acclaim from the likes of us for its charming story, lovely characters and often soothing approach to adventuring. You can read about its enduring appeal in last year's glowing retrospective.

Elsewhere on Get Games at the moment, you can pre-order the forthcoming PC version of our neighbour Relentless Software's colourful and quirky murder mystery series, Blue Toad Murder Files for Ł13.49.

Ahh gutted. I just bought this the other week for my PS2 for about Ł7. I'm sure even my non-gaming laptop could run this fairly smoothly.

you goddamn fools should suck it up and include a permanent link to Get Games somewhere on your main page. I couldn't remember the name and it took me forever to find it last sunday when I wanted to buy Napolean with a hangover.

edit: I had the hangover, I didn't want to buy a mumbling bleary eyes midget general

edit: maybe I'm even more brainless than normal with a hangover - the PC channel would be an obvious place to look and I see it there now.

I have it on steam, however it might be worth mentioning that the game really does hate modern systems. Yes you can get it to run by tinkering but it wont be as good as was when first came out (although gameplay, story etc all still ace).

Either disable AA, or disable hardware acceleration. Depending on your setup can get away with running it fine or may not be playable at all no way to know till actually try. Real shame so i really hope this gets some love to help it.

I've not listened to reel big fish for years... my net alias has lost its meaning I think I should listen to them tonight when I get in from work!

What is your integrated gfx chipset? Some of them "count" gfx cards for this kind of thing.

Off topic, I also highly recommend Reel Big Fish, and the listening to thereof. I saw them a big festy years ago, might have been V-festival. They do a mean cover of Take On Me by Aha

Well that's 2 quid wasted then.

Someone should maybe point out that the image is stretched on a widescreen monitor and there's absolutely nothing that can be done to fix it. Giant black bars top and bottom too, just to really rub it in.

Bloody marvellous. Of course if you can put up with that then it's a spanking game

The original game was like that on all platforms. It is a bit of a pain in the arse. Its like the devs wanted widescreen so they leterboxed the display, but didn't account for the actual existence of widescreen

There's a regkey you can add/change that will remove the bands and so scales the display a little better.

It's an ok game, but don't buy it if you need your Y axis inverted in these kind of games - they screwed that up!
