Free R.U.S.E DLC incoming
New multiplayer add-ons for Ubi's RTS.
New multiplayer maps and modes are on the way for Ubisoft's recent real time strategy effort, R.U.S.E.
The Manhattan Project Pack includes three exclusive multiplayer maps and two additional multiplayer modes.
In the Nuclear War mode, all prototype factories and upgrades will be unlocked from the beginning, allowing for some particularly explosive show-downs.
Total War, sees you starting in 1939 with all units specific to that era. You'll then unlock 1942 units and 1945 units step by step.
The three new maps are Twilight of the Gods (2 vs. 2), Vesuvio (2 vs. 2) and Guns and Tulips (3 vs. 3).
Ubisoft is clearly getting in the Christmas mood early – the Manhattan Project Pack will be free to all when it launches some time in December.
A charm offensive is probably a good idea, mind. Ubisoft's financial report earlier this week revealed that the strategy title had under-performed since its September release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The AI totally owned me in skirmish though (probably because I'm mince at the game I guess)

The games are timed at 25 mins for 1 0n1, not sure about 2 on 2 as I never played that mode, whoever has the most points at the end wins. And it's pretty easy to find a game, might have to wait a little while sometimes though.
Brilliant brilliant game. I've played all the C&Cs (bar number 4 due to the drm and general crappiness, but will get around to it someday anyway) both starcrafts, all the warcrafts, all the age of empires (including ds) all Advance Wars, even Universe at war, Dark Reign, Colony Wars etc etc. And I can say RUSE is up there with the best.
Really hope it sells enough to warrant a sequel, I could play RUSE 2,3,4 lol. Love it.

Granted it was a demo of the singleplayer portion, and people have told me that whilst the SP is uninteresting, the MP is more entertaining. But I pretty much avoided the MP beta largely because of the UbiDRM they were pushing with the title. Why try it when you know you aren't buying it?
It was only fairly late that they panicked at the lack of hype and decided to announce they were ditching the DRM in the hope they'd generate more. By that stage the beta had long since passed, and I had already spent my money on other RTS's which have entertaining singleplayer and multiplayer.
Sorry RUSE. Maybe your next incarnation won't be dogged by stupid publisher issues.

RUSE really is a great game, but as noted the single player isn't all that interesting (the demo was incredibly boring, and probably did more harm than good). Even just playing skirmish mode is great fun. It is also one of those games where the presentation genuinely adds something more than just 'ooh pretty' - although it is that too.

I took a long time to warm to R.U.S.E.; in fact, I think the first time I played it I thought it sucked balls. As you start to figure out the tactical plays available to you though, it grew on me a lot.
