Out This Week

AC: Brotherhood vs NFS: Hot Pursuit.

After the record-breaking week that saw the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Kinect, you'd think this week would be a case of after the Lord Mayor's show. Not so.

This week sees the release of two of 2010's most anticipated games: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Both look set to put the wind up critics, but how will you react?

PlayStation 3-owning fans of high definition remakes (they're on-trend right now) are in for a treat: Ubisoft's bundled together the PS2 Prince of Persia Sands of Time trilogy and given it a lick of paint. But is it more style than substance?

And finally, Wii owners can get their motion sensing on with FlingSmash, which comes bundled with the new Wii Remote Plus. Boom!

This Week In Shops!

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

  • Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
  • Publisher: Ubisoft
  • Formats: PC, PS3, Xbox 360

What is it? Third-person parkour-em-up with a dash of The Matrix thrown in for good measure. What we think: Eurogamer's review will be tomorrow at 5pm GMT. The signs, however, are good. Simon Parkin went hands-on for Eurogamer in October.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

  • Developer: Criterion
  • Publisher: EA
  • Formats: PC, PS3, Xbox 360

What is it? Arcade style racer from Burnout developer that takes Need for Speed back to its roots. What we think? Tom reviewed last week "Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is an unqualified triumph," he said. "It's stuffed with content but rarely for the sake of it, and knowing Criterion it will be handsomely supported for months to come, even though it's already the best pure arcade racing game since Burnout Paradise."

Chart Predictions!

Each week one of the team will step up to predict the UK all-formats chart. The following predicts the outcome for the week beginning Friday 19th November (to be reported on Monday 22nd November).

Tom Bramwell, Editor

  1. Call of Duty: Black Ops
  2. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
  3. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit
  4. FIFA 11
  5. Just Dance 2

"Two million sales in one week is "quite a lot", obviously, but I'm going to take a punt that second-week sales of Call of Duty: Black Ops won't be sufficiently reduced to prevent it holding off Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, both of which are out this Friday supported by big ad campaigns. Whatever the relative positions, you can probably expect the top five above to look very similar to the final Christmas chart of the year..."

Eurogamer Senior Staff Writer Rob Purchese offered his predictions last week. His crystal ball gazing resulted in Black Ops on top, Kinect Adventures in second, FIFA 11 in third, Dance Central in fourth and 007: GoldenEye in fifth. How did he do?

UK All-Formats Top 5 (reported this morning)

  1. Call of Duty: Black Ops
  2. FIFA 11
  3. Just Dance 2
  4. Kinect Sports
  5. Football Manager 2011
