L.A. Noire out spring 2011
Xbox 360 version confirmed.
Rockstar's new open world detective game L.A. Noire will be released in the spring of 2011.
That's according to the game's first proper trailer ("made entirely from in-game footage"), which you can see below. Rockstar also confirmed the game will be released on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
L.A. Noire, announced years ago in 2005, is a 1940s crime thriller based around you rising through the ranks of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Central to everything is a magnificent-sounding motion-capture system, which records the look, voice and actions of real-life actors and then processes them into the game.
Such a level of detail enables a sophisticated interrogation mechanic, whereby players can judge facial expressions and behavioural quirks to determine whether a suspect is holding anything back. Creator Team Bondi is also said to have written an unprecedented 300 pages of script for the game.
"L.A. Noire is the first game to really explore what it means to be a detective, and offers players the opportunity to solve crimes blending classic action, investigation and interrogation, in the endless pursuit of what's right," Rockstar said.

Another question might be, how much content would need to be cut to fit onto one DVD?

Calm down my little angry friend - I was merely taking the piss. And ever so slightly baiting... for someone like yourself. I couldn't give a shit really, it's just a bit of fun.
Oh and for the record I do in fact own a PS3.

The sales of Heavy Rain should have given Take 2 the confidence that this has got a chance of selling well. This is one of my most anticipated games of next year.

"Another fun DF Face-off to look forward to. Could this once thought exclusive PS3 title turn out to be another technical smack in the face for all Playstation owners? "
+1
Until they show some gameplay video I will remain skeptical about this game though.

Sony had originally funded L.A. Noire and when Rockstar picked it up, they either had to compensate Sony for what they had already put in OR give an exclusive. They chose to give the exclusive Agent.

Hopefully I'm wrong and it's something totally different because it's certainly refreshing to see big budget games step away from the standard gangster/war/space marine tropes.

I also have to wonder if Team Bondi are getting annoyed that lots of people are emphatically referring to LA Noire as a Rockstar game, when Rockstar are "only" publishing it, not developing it. Suppose it always happens when a well know developer/publisher is publishing another dev's game though.
