Hitman 5 evidence grows

Just announce it!

The heavily rumoured Hitman 5 looks increasingly likely after a number of online CVs mentioned the game.

Two profiles on LinkedIn (spotted by PlayStation Lifestyle) mention the game – one even suggests it'll be out in 2011.

Damien Simper's profile reveals he worked as a lead animator on Hitman 5 at IO Interactive from 2006 to 2009.

Developer Theo Engell-Nielsen worked as a programmer at the Danish studio on a raft of titles. In his profile Hitman 5 is listed as a 2011 title and as finished.

In July Eurogamer brought you the news that IO was working on Hitman 5 and was due out Christmas next year at the earliest.

Square Enix told Eurogamer: "It's flattering to see so many fans are eager for another Hitman game. Unfortunately we have nothing to announce at this time."

And only last month the voice actor who plays Agent 47 in the Hitman series mentioned Hitman 5 in an interview.

Rumour of a fifth game in the stealth-em-up series has been rife since the release of the last Hitman game, 2006's Blood Money. Perhaps it's time to come clean, Square Enix.

    After Kane & Lynch, I can no longer trust IO Interactive... Bring in some new blood, please.

    Every Hitman game has been an average game right across the board, why would anyone be excited for another one.
  • Postumo #3 2 years ago

    Average games? they just kicked MGS and Splinter Cell sorry asses. These two have always been unplayable for me, whilst Hitman was just great. It could have some flaws, but the experience was better.

    Kane & Lynch games have been horrid so far, and that concerns and worries me about IO making a good Hitman.

    I've only played Blood Money, and I thought it was good. Never finished it though... I should pick it up again, one of these days.
  • bad09 #5 2 years ago

    I'm not sure if I'm bothered if the previous rumours of the game are true. Sounds like they're moving away from what was great about the series.

    @Negotiator:

    Sorry, but I disagree. Each and every single game had it's flaws, especially the first one, but there are some awesome moments here and there... Silent Assassin for instance, has one of the most epic moments in video game history, namely the sequence where...

    You have to kill that japanese target I think and have to go throw the snow, avoid the lights and reach that freakin' huge castle, meet up with Mei-Ling(?!), dress up as a kick-ass ninja and leave the place, preferably unseen. The soundtrack alone at the begin was... * lost for words *

    Or in Blood Money...

    The opera mission. Pure ownage pretty much.

    Epic s**t basically. ;)

    The Hitman games are fucking sublime. They're everything you need from a stealth game, the likes of which only Thief and perhaps the earlier Splinter Cells have matched IMO.

    So many fond memories of kills (as well as kills gone wrong).

    @butler`:

    Thief in a way was probably more rewarding, even if it offered less approaches to a given situation... Too bad EIDOS pulled the plug on it, after Deadly Shadows, even though that hardly [/i]felt[/i] like Thief. RIP, Garret. :(

    I can't wait to drop some more bodies down manholes again!

    hehe...manhole.

    @M4RV They have actually decided to bring back the thief series, though i imagine its probally going to be late 2011 - 2012 before we see it. Just hope the new one is more like the first two as the 3rd was a bit naff on the whole but was saved by a few great moments

    Why on earth would they want to announce it? As soon as they do, sites like Eurogamer will stop writing stories like this.

    Free coverage for absolutely zero PR effort, IO didn't even have to cobble together a few screens - sounds like a winner to me.

    @M4RV

    The opera mission was beyond cool. One of the most tense gaming moments I've ever had (if you play it out a certain "up close" way).
  • Spency #13 2 years ago

    Bloody love the hitman games. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to stealth games so it takes me absolutely ages to complete them. I have to get through the whole level without setting off any alerts and without killing any innocent people.

    @M4RV +1 on the opera level. Totally sweet.
  • Haloboy #14 2 years ago

    Hell yes. We need 47 to show the now very flaky Fisher how it's done again. We never stopped believing in you IO!!
  • Vin #15 2 years ago

    Make Blood Money actually work on the 360 first, IO, you edjits. I've got a copy of it sat there doing NOTHING.

    You need to put it in the console first before you can play it.
  • TAKEL12 #17 2 years ago

    Announce it and then don't fuck it up, capiche

    Also i loved the flaw on Blood Money where you could literally kill everyone on every level, Mardi Gras excluded, without being seen, what headlines they were!

    Well, technically, if you've killed absolutely everyone, there there's no-one alive to give a witness statement is there?

    /pedant
  • Skurmedel #19 2 years ago

    Hope they've got Jesper Kyd on the soundtrack again.
  • Vin #20 2 years ago

    "You need to put it in the console first before you can play it."

    Pedantry aside, you are aware that it won't work through HDMI, yes?
  • dsmx #21 2 years ago

    They could of made another hitman or another freedom fighters but no, we got 2 horrible games that will hopefully be forgotten in a years time.

    What?!

    Hitman is an IOI game and should always be, new blood is more likely to fuck it up. No wonder they sucked at K&L, it's because they are good at Hitman, not the other way around.
