GT5 out on 30th November?

Official Sony site reckons so.

Gran Turismo 5 will launch on 30th November, if a new listing on a Sony website is to believed.

According to the platform holder's US online store, Sony Style, the oft-delayed sequel will be "available on or about 11/30/2010". The site is taking pre-orders.

Earlier this week an industry source told Eurogamer that there was little hope that the game would see release before Christmas.

But then yesterday creator Yamauchi chimed in saying "discs are being stamped as we speak".

Confusion reins. We've contacted Sony to see if the date is the real deal or not.

    Why must you torture me so. I could be playing it right now.
  • nemesisND1derboy #4 2 years ago

    Hopefully so, but another delay isn't out of the question. I'm happy that Yamauchi wants to make the perfect game, and this bodes well for players, but it really is getting silly. Please let this be true!

    What about Europe if that is the US store?
  • TrevSkyline #7 2 years ago

    Yea, yea......zzzzzzzzzz.

    Boring now, tbh, all these "dates" just take the p**s further out of all of us consumers that have been waiting YEARS for a release.

    RELEASE it already.
  • homerramone #8 2 years ago

    Europe is a very important market for Sony - and GT in particular. Therefore europe gets it in January ;-)

    It wasn't yesterday, it was Tuesday, get your facts straight EG.
  • timewarp87 #11 2 years ago

    Weird, its a game that has taken forever to make, yet the marketing seems rushed for Christmas. (to me anyway)
  • dsmx #12 2 years ago

    GT5 is one game that doesn't need marketing.
  • Gambit1977 #13 2 years ago

    But can it use Kinect EG?

    Sorry got carried away with it being Kinectgamer today :)

    30th is a Tuesday so expect Europe to be the 3rd December if this is true
  • Mkwone #16 2 years ago

    As much as i hope thats offical, i don't think it is. Looking forward to an offical release date soon.

    Then only release date I'm going to trust is the one when they call from GameStop to tell me to come and pick up my pre-ordered (and prepaid) copy :).

    Mind boggling... Surely it's not that difficult to communicate a date on which one of your biggest games ever will be in store?

    Sadly, it won't. Only half the cars have damaging, dodgy AI...

    I expect a 9, and wouldn't be surprised if it got an 8.

    @djronz - "My only wish is that gt5 gets a fair review on its content and gaming merits and is not chastised because of its long developement time, after all a good game is a good game (or bad is bad) no matter how long its taken."

    Not so for this game. If GT5 is not a polished piece of perfection, it should be marked down because of the lengthy development time. They've delayed again and again to polish and preen, so if its not perfect, then what have they been doing? If it had simply just taken 5 years to develop, then fine. But to announce dates again and again and then pull it at the eleventh hour to polish, then yes, it should be chastised for not being a well rounded, fully polished, bug free and option filled game.
    IMHO, obv. I could be wrong. I was once, you know....1985 I think it was....

  • mgillespie #32 2 years ago

    @Lexx87 It won't get a 10/10 as we all know it's not a level playing field. MassEffect games get perfect scores despite tonnes of screen tearning, but if there is a single pixel out of place in GT5 it will be downscored, as the myth is that GT5 is delayed. I would have hoped a moderator here was not stupid enough to fall into that myth.

    All the GT games (the full ones) turn up 4-5 years into a Playstations life. Any TRUE gamer knows this. GT5 is thus no difference.

    To my knowledge, there have been 2 delays.

    1/ A Japanese only delay that cancelled the Japan-only March 2010 date.
    2/ A short delay on the Nov 2010 global launch date.

  • waggy79 #33 2 years ago

    @djronz

    I think the combo of how long it's taken and that I'm kinda over sim racers now is the reason. I have no doubt it will get a good score and good sales, I'm just quite happy to let it pass me by this time.

    To be honest, I am starting to treat reviews on this site (and indeed other game sites in general) with a heavy dose of salt. There will always be an element of bias, unintentional or not, that creeps in to any review and indeed all site content. It is no different to the Telegraph being left leaning and Guardian being left-leaning based on the ownership and preferences of the editor, so if the editor thinks a peripheral for one console is the mutts nuts, then the site will be flooded with articles about it.

    Today's Eurogamer was bought to you the letter K...
  • Emmit_Assassin #36 2 years ago

    @mgillespie
    Its your kind of elitism that really annoys me. There is no such thing as a 'TRUE gamer'. Idiots like you think they're above others just because they know a lot more about games. My wife was the shit at NFS:U2 and hasn't touched a console game since, but she plays on her DS all the time. She's a gamer. My 4 year old plays Harry Potter on my Xbox. He's a gamer. A friend of mine can name just about every game that ever came out on the PSOne/2 and 3 and probably the developer, publisher, release date and average review score from memory. He's a gamer. The only difference is those that do play, and those that don't.
    I own a Wii, will be getting a Kinect after xmas, and probably whatever Nintendo come up with for their next Wii. I was a Sony fanboy till I grew up and got an Xbox 360. I play CoD and Battlefield games, don't like Halo, looking forward to Dead Space 2, remember Dizzy, Worms and Cannon Fodder. I'm a gamer.

  • Spekingur #41 2 years ago

    I just hope GT5 won't be scored high just because it is GT5. I am all for GT5 getting a high score, I just don't want it to be biased because of the name that accompanies the game.
  • ken8mac #42 2 years ago

    Tried it at Games convention and it is brilliant. Thats all. 3D awesome. Non 3d awesome. Play it and then judge. Who gives a F@~k about delays. When it comes, play it and decide. Until then, play something else.
  • alcides #43 2 years ago

    I'm gobsmacked by the weather graphics on this game. This deserves the full equipment : gaming faux-leather chair with built in 5.1 wheel, pedals, and a gigantic 3D screen.

    ... I'll probably just buy it platinum, though. :(

    Fucking come on. I mean, really badly fucking. In June 2009 (!!) you said you can release it anytime you want. I think it would have been the best game ever if you released it back then. Now it seems like it's only not released because you don't want to.

    Shit, this is embarrassing. Why, please, why don't you get it out now? As soon as possible? Oh for God's sake.
  • DrStrangelove #46 2 years ago

    @Lexx87

    If this doesn't get a 10/10 just what on earth have they been doing for so long.

    The rating doesn't matter because this is the one and only racing game, and for car fans, it's the only one game at all. Given the decision of having either GT5 or all other existing games altogether, we wouldn't hesitate to choose GT5.
  • waggy79 #47 2 years ago

    @man.the.king

    Fair enough, you learn something new everyday. I cant be bothered tbh, the xbox ones update automatically. Anyway the point im making is i have nothing against Sony or GT5, i even stopped playing Forza 3 around lvl 35. I just find them a bit sterile. Find myself enjoying more arcade style racers lately.
  • Dop #48 2 years ago

    If this date is confirmed, I'll be even more suspicious that they delayed it purely to avoid coming out around the same time as the Kinect. Sony want all the gaming headlines for themselves, and don't want to share the spotlight with Microsoft.
  • metamorphic #49 2 years ago

    @Lexx87
    It hasn't been that long. The game was announced in circa 2006-07, thus making it about 3-4 years. If you think that's long enough, please look at Alan Wake and Mafia II, both of which were in development for a longer period, can you imagine (though the whiners would probably not let you) than GT5 and both of which were rather abysmal. Other games, like for example Heavy Rain have been in development for a while but the developers chose not to reveal it immediately as it was a new kind of game and didn't have any reputation to ride on originally.

    The time is not what matters here; it is the dedication. It's just that people love this series far more than other ones, it has a rabid fanbase not only among gamers but also among car enthusiasts and non-gamers, so there has been expectations for it like no other. These expectations, which you really can't blame on Polyphony or Yamauchi (can you really blame them for making excellent games?), are what make people think the wait has been so long.

    What a load of bollocks. Whos is this 'we' you speak of? I love my sims and have tried just about every one over the last 20 years. And I'll take iRacing every time thank you very much.

    The problem with GT for me, is that each game is too similar to the last and has to many flaws that ruin it for me. I've bought every GT, but will be skipping this one.

    Bet bet bet !!!!!

    The winner is ............................. I'll tell you in 6 months time when GT5 finally gets it's European release. :o(

    *I hope I'm joking but I would put nothing past how Sony treat us European gamers*
  • Nighthawk_08 #52 2 years ago

    There's alot of retards on here that must think GT5 has been delayed maybe 6 or 7 times with the way that they are banging on. It's been delayed twice. Once in march, and the latest one in November, which looks like being a short one at the moment. It's really not that big of a deal. If it takes a while longer to iron out any flaws then so be it, because any1 who played the brilliant, but infuriating new Vegas, will realise that releasing a game when it's not fully finished completely ruins the experience. I can't wait for GT5, it looks amazing
