BioWare reveals Dragon Age Legends

Facebook game unlocks DA2 content.

Update: A Dragon Age Legends website is up. You can sign-up to beta test the game there.

Original story: BioWare is creating Dragon Age Legends specially for Facebook.

Due February 2011, the game offers not only a tailored casual RPG experience, but also a chance to unlock content inside Dragon Age 2.

Legends shares the Free Marches setting of Dragon Age 2. You and your 583 friends - oh, you don't have that many? - can quest, loot, share rewards and grow a kingdom.

Is there character customisation? Check. An upgrade system? Check. It's all in there.

Legends is an extension of what BioWare attempted with Flash game Dragon Age Journeys prior to the launch of Dragon Age: Origins.

There's every chance BioWare will build excitement for Dragon Age 2 with iPhone and iPad releases nearer game-launch, too.

Dragon Age 2 will better suit consoles than DAO.

If it's like current Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy game in that it's fun and non-intrusive (you don't need to recruit friends to help you grow you farm or anything...) then this could be a fun diversion.

    Fuck Fakebook!

Why do I have to start a Facebook profile or buy a iPhone/iPad game just to get more content for a game? Why can't it be on the disc?

DLC is one thing but this...

I agree 100% with ZizouFC, no content will make me play on Facebook just to unlock some content on my console game. I don't care how good or big that content is, this is where I personally draw the line.

"You and your 583 friends - oh, you don't have that many?"

That doesn't even qualify as a stealth "I'm so popular" comment! :)

I do have a facebook account, and I will be playing this.

I quite enjoyed the DAJ flash game, because it offered a nice turn-based take on dragon age. Crucially, however, it wasn't linked to any half-assed social network site. Why on earth would I want to sign up for that nonsense just to play and unlock gear for DA2?
  • GAmbrose #8 2 years ago

Yeah Irien, Journeys was ace, but i'd prefer if they kept it away from Facebook.

    Wank. Do not want.

    @geeza

I could have a Facebook account too if I wanted - seeing as it's free, and I might have to if the content is worth it.

I would prefer if things like this were done in a XBLA/PSN game even if that meant paying 400points (e.g. Case Zero, Dead Space) Having it on Facebook of all places seems so... disjointed. Kills the immersion even more for me in a strange way having it on such a different "platform".

i dont understand why everyone is pi**ed about this...
its OPTIONAL, you can join if ONLY you want to...
and it probably wont be much, like journeys this might give small items

Status: I do not give a fuck.

Reason I didn't bother with Dragon age.
To stressed out which version to buy so I wouldn't miss any unlocks.

  • kaya08 #16 2 years ago

Is there going to be ANY content on the disc itself?
Or will I have to jump through a billion bloody hoops to play the damn thing.
Bah, one more reason not to buy the game.

To answer the "why are we annoyed" question - I know I like to get as much as possible "the complete experience" with a game - do everything, see everything etc. The extra items and bonuses you get from the other game might not be a key part of DA2, but they represent part of the "complete" experience. I appreciate this is very pedantic, and borderline obsessive, but hey. It's probably why I have no friends to put on facebook in the firstplace! (grin)

DAJ flash game WAS linked to a half-assed social network site. It was the Bioware Community social network that uses your EA community account.

DLC in DA was pointless, to the point of mostly there for aesthetic value; they didn't change the game in any meaningful way, hell very little actually did.
