EA man jumps the gun on Friday reveal.

There's a brand new Battlefield game on the way and you'll find out what it is on Friday, according to a tweet from an EA affiliate.

Ben Cousins of Easy, the company that runs the EA business unit behind MMO Battlefield Heroes, tweeted, "Flying to London later today to show a new, unannounced #Battlefield game to the press. News goes public on Friday. (NOT #BF3)"

Responding to a comment from a follower that suggested it could be Battlefield 1943 for the PC, he added, "Nope, it's a completely new title."

Could it be the new free-to-play Battlefield game hinted at by domain name registrations recently? Tune in on Friday to find out.

The last Battlefield game out of the gate was the magnificent Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. That won a 9/10 from Eurogamer's Dan Whitehead earlier this year.

I adore the Battlefield series and own everything except the Ps2 xbox game (I had BF2 so why downgrade ) I have loved each and everyone but the Heroes thing just wasnt Battlefield for me , hope its not another one of them .
Roll on Friday , i can guarantee if its anything other than a free to play game then i will buy day 1 .

It will obviously be intending to knock the stuffing out of the Black Ops bandwagon, the only unnanounced shooter on the planet even capable of that is BF3. I hope they keep it to PC only tho, I think the BC spin off is perfect for the consoles

Okay so who else would cream themselves if this was revealed:

Star Wars Battlefield
- Like battlefront but even bigger and better
- 32v32 (64v64 PC) online battles over famiilar places such as Hoth
- Usual achetypes (medic, heavy gunner, engineer)
- Jedis/sith crop up now and again as NPCs to whichever team is losing

Battlefield: Galaxy? A battlefield game with all the usual tanks, planes, choppers and guns, but with all the characters from Mario Galaxy in it. That would sell. Well I would probably rent it anyway.

I wouldnt be surprised if it was 2143 on both PC and consoles. Look at the success Halo has, dice could easily pull it off.

and to respond to an earlier post, BF3 WILL be pc AND console. They've already confirmed that.

If this new Battlefield turns out to be Bad Company 3 then I'm gonna go back to painting model soldiers.

On BC2: I hate the name, I hate the small map sizes, I hate the 32 player cap, I hate the fact that yet again we must endure ear twitching American accents and most of all I hate the dumbed down console feel of it all.

The 'ram US flags down your throat' attitude won't be resolved for BF3 but the rest might.

Meh.
