Fresh MAG DLC announced

New ways to blow stuff up.

Fresh from going live with a comprehensive patch earlier this month, more new DLC has been announced for MAG.

Developer Zipper Interactive has lifted the lid on the Escalation pack, which brings new maps, game modes and weapons to the PlayStation 3 multiplayer FPS.

The new Escalation mode supports up to 96 players, or one 32-man platoon for each PMC, and pits Raven, SVER, and Valor against each other at the same time. The first PMC to score the pre-designated number of points before the timer runs down wins.

The DLC pack comes with three new maps: the volcanic beaches of Isla de Magma, the mountainous Silverback Ridge, and the desert wasteland of Radiant Barrens. There are nine new weapons to get your hands on too.

Sony's European PlayStation blog has a comprehensive breakdown of everything the new content has to offer.

The Escalation pack will be available on 3rd November priced £6.29 / €7.99.

I suppose its a good way to split the already dwindling numbers of players. Still, so long as you bleed a few more quid out of the game eh.

    Good stuff Zipper.

Recently bought this game to try with Move and really enjoy it, despite it's frustrations, most of which are down to players who don't understand team play!

I very rarely have to wait longer than 5 minutes to get into a game, so there seems to be plenty of games/people still playing. Then again I live in Australia, so am on different times to most here? Generally not a fan of DLC but it's nice to see Zipper not forgetting MAG despite the fact they must be working flat out on Socom 4.

Is anybody still playing this game, i bought it on release and i have to say it's one of the worst FPS i've every played. Needless to say it got traded in within 1 week. awful game IMO.

@vmanb, yeah plenty of people still playing. Lots of clans. It's really a game to play with friends or with a clan because it's a game based on objectives, teamwork and leadership. Lots of players with 300-500 hours in the game so it seems they have built a loyal community. I can see why people may hate it, especially if they don't have friends to team up with. It can be both epic and brilliant and, if playing with randoms, incredibly frustrating.

There is a eurogamer clan. I bought this with a ps3 a couple of weeks ago, I think it's great

With move it is amazing but noobs die fast and often. I know i do: -)

It's very commendable how well this has been supported with updates, changes and improvements. Anyone still playing will likely welcome this DLC as its going to freshen the game again. I moved on to BFBC2 when that came out but really enjoyed what I played of this and I'm looking to go back now because of the post release support it's had.

More MAG content is always good with me :)

And since starting to play it with Move, I am enjoying it even more. Now just to convince the wife that one of those gun housings is not juvenile...

Can anyone share details of the EG clan? I am looking for one to join after months operating on my own...

It's sver clan called Better than Halo [BTH] there is a Mag forum you can find someone who can invite you there

Cheers. Although I am in Valor, and don't fancy starting again from scratch even though my total XP is minimal

should have been called LAG, because that's all it has ever done for me. even EA's servers aren't this bad. and i've put in over 300 hours since it launched. great game idea, poorly executed...
  • HisDudness #12 2 years ago

Wow that is some truly inspirational masochism! 300 hours spent playing a poorly implemented game while dealing with lag?

On topic: Hopefully with the lower player count requirement for this new game type will have matches starting more frequently. Also I hope that the lower price point for Interdiction brings about a renaissance of interest, it really is a fun mode I promise!

i'll buy that for 8 euro!
I fell bad for picking this (great) game up second hand so i'll happily give Zipper 8 quid!

I’m playing MAG with MOVE and feels very good and gives new-more-realistic experience!!

The first 2 weeks was a nightmare and I got owned all the time...but now I'm doing quite good and I would like to encourage hardcore players to try it out and to not give up at the beginning...believe me it's worth the try = MOVE IS GREAT.
    Can't wait for KILLZONE 3!!! :-D
