F1 2010 patch in submission

Not long now.

The long-awaited patch for F1 2010 is in submission with Microsoft and Sony, Codemasters has revealed.

Once the approval process is completed it'll be released into the wild for gamers to download, community manager Ian 'Helios' Webster said on the official forum.

"Keep an eye out on the forums, facebook, and Twitter, as we'll let you know as soon as it's ready to download," he said.

The patch will be for all three versions of the game: PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, and address some of the key issues gamers have complained about since launch.

Those include corrupt game saves and pit-stop problems. The patch will also improve damage modelling, AI driver behaviour and wet weather, and support more wheel controllers.

The PC patch will enable the game to run on DX11 and adds Eyefinity support, so that three monitors can be used.

F1 2010 released last month to critical and commercial success. It scored an excellent 8/10 in Eurogamer's review, and debuted in the UK all-formats chart at number one.

Hurrah! I hope they fixed some of the games performance hitches on the PC too. Can't wait to see how DX11 looks like in the game (Probably better rainy weather reflections and puddle water tesselation)

I have been waiting for this patch to finally be released so I can take the plunge and buy this game. Let's hope the wait has been worth it

    Great!

Looking forward to play the game again... the pit-bugs caused me to put the game in... the pit.

Finally! Stopped playing because bugs were killing my enjoyment of the game. Now I can finally begin my second season in career, this time in a shiny Mclaren.

After suffering the corrupt save problem on the PC version, i have to say that this is great news. Been scared to play it till the patch cos i did'nt want to have to start all over again due to more corrupt saves.

Great news for the F1 2010 community that will only make the game better. I get the impression a lot of people will be diving back in to career mode now!

    Maybe now it'll be worth 8/10. It's currently about a 6, maybe 7.

Hurray, so we'll be able to play the finished game in a few weeks then? ;)

Me thinks Codemasters should have done more testing on this (or paid more attention to their testers if they did their job properly) before releasing it because many of the bugs reported were picked up by gamers within hours of playing it! Typical of the "release now, patch later" attitude of many publishers though sadly.

I'm looking forward to getting back to the game and running it under DX11. Nice that PC owners get something extra for a change. :)

Why don't they just release the PC patch now? Fallout: New Vegas managed to get to patches out for the PC version within the first few days after release - or is that GfWL thing in F1 2010 that requires a patch certification process similar to the consoles?

Well anyway, the iRacing Williams FW31 is being released tomorrow, so I guess that could be the end of my interest in F1 2010 - although I do regularly enjoy AI races which iRacing obviously doesn't offer.

@Miths - F1 2010 uses Games for Windows LIVE so that means it has to go through Microsoft's notoriously sloooooooooooooooow certification process just like the Xbox 360 version. Unfortunately.

Considering that Microsoft still manage to balls up updates anyway on an alarmingly regular basis on the Xbox 360 I'm not actually sure what this certification actually does.

I must say as much as everyone including myself bemoans the Gran Turismo 5 saga, we at least can be assured the finished disc will be a near flawless product with little, and possibly no 'patching' to look forward to, the F1 2010 saga seems like a bit of a joke and shows up the downsides to having connected consoles because remember, not everyone is online, not everyone who purchased this game will ever get to see the improved version, and the bugs sound bad enough to be game breaking... something has to give in this situation, and that should have been the release date of this game til it was up to a standard that befits a £40 game purchase.

Codies persistently let me down these days, not to mention the fact they've forgotten all about Micro Machines, which, in light of the fantastic Reckless Racing mobile game, seems overdue for a brilliant mobile version! Idiots.

Hopefully it fixes the occasional freezing during races.

Did they learn nothing from OFDR. Lol if you bought a Codemasters game after that one.

It's Codemasters FIRST attempt at an F1 game. And bloody ambitious one at that. F1 2010 hasn't been in development for 5 years (like GT5) and like I said, its their first instalment. Unlike Polyphony Digital which has had 4 previous games to look back on.
CM has kept its customers in know with what's been happening through their forums AND they are asking for any ideas and things to improve on for F1 2011. Which is more than can be said about other studios such as Turn 10.

This is a cracking game, a fantastic racer, and the best F1 game there has ever been.
