New Fable IIIs unlock exclusive DLC

XBL redemption card grants goodies.

Buried within a press release to coincide with the launch of a new Fable III trailer is the revelation that new copies of the Lionhead role-playing game will come with a "redemption card" that grants access to exclusive downloadable content.

The one-time-use Xbox Live card grants access to the following DLC for the high-profile Xbox 360 RPG:

  • Call forth undead minions to your aid with the Raise Dead Potion
  • Extend battle time for more attacks with the Slow Time Potion
  • For the fashionably conscious, try on and keep the Scot Male Hero Outfit or the Scot Female Hero Outfit
  • Looking to get inked? The Highlander Tattoo Set will be perfect for your hero or heroine
  • With the Red Setter Dog Skin, you can transform your faithful furry companion into a whole new breed

The offer echoes EA's Online Pass, which reserves certain content for those who buy new copies of games. Under EA's scheme those who buy second hand copies of games must pay a fee.

Fable III – out next Friday - is available in a Standard Edition (£49.99) and Limited Collector's Edition (£59.99) for Xbox 360.

Eurogamer went hands-on in August.

Really looking forwards to Fable III. The original was OK but I loved Fable II.

"Xbox 360 exclusive?" Did I miss something or is Wesley just misinformed? Have they canned the PC version?

    I wouldn't be surprised.
  • Buenos_Estente #3 2 years ago

If thats all it offers, nothing too much there to prevent a second hand purchase really
  • Spanky #4 2 years ago

I thought this was more of a 3rd party strategy. Lot of tat so i'm sure the pre-owned lovers shan't worry.

Why would you need more time for combat anyway, piss easy most of the time, mash mash mash = W1n.
  • wyp100 #5 2 years ago

    @sneetch

No, you're right. I'll make the change.
  • irve77 #6 2 years ago

I'm still very concerned that this is going to be worse than Fable 2 all the changes announced worry me !
  • BillyBrush #7 2 years ago

To be honest it's not much like online pass....that's diminishing people's ownership of the games they buy.

This is just a few trinkets, which is nice but not a problem if you wanted to go 2nd hand / wouldn't affect value if you trade it in.

    So it's a lot better.

Shit, I didn't even know this was out next week! Expensive gaming season is upon us again, goddamn it..
  • kangarootoo #9 2 years ago

Oh piss, I didn't realise this was out next week either.

I had AC:B tagged as my next game purchase. I just don't have enough gaming time to have two hour hungry titles on the go at the same time. I recall having Bioshock 2 sat there for ages whilst I finished something elese (AC2 I think).

Is this the first Scottish themed DLC?

Pointless novelties. Suits the game perfectly.

I was looking forwards to fable 3.

But "MolyneuxGamer" has bored me to death with it, with their twice daily updates...
  • Sunyavadin #14 2 years ago

Like the exclusive content that was supposed to come with Fable 2? Because that worked out so well, didn't it?
Where half the people didn't get it, so they ended up just unlocking it for everyone for free?
After they'd already removed everything else from the collector's edition, so those of us who bought it got....nothing people who got the regular edition didn't?

*Correction - we got a DVD with a list of things we could do with the Hobbe figure that we didn't get.

Looks like i'll be takeing a trip to blockbuster to nick one of those codes from the display boxes. I will lament the death of Blockbuster when it comes.

@Auyx - Blockbuster UK will do just fine to be honest, even if they have to deal with some extremes at the bottom of the society pit like yourself. I actually feel sorry for the staff of BB, cause they have some right chavs going in their drugged out, thieves, con merchants and dickheads. You know the world is going downhill when the police go into the store showing the staff pictures of people who have been mugging people and they just say "Watch out for these people".... but the police wont actually arrest them.

    Sunyavadin:

Is that true? All I found reference to through google was a US issue with cards not being included in every box so you had to email MS for codes (abusable but limited to a certain date too). I have a codeless UK LE and everything was still locked ingame last I checked.
  • Sunyavadin #22 2 years ago

They allowed everyone, without exception to claim a code. And most people did.
  • Macdory #23 2 years ago

Put it on my rental list with Boomerang - can;t beat getting a new game to play every month for £3.50 :)
  • mazzl #24 2 years ago

    pre-ordered this yesterday :)
    can't wait.

i don;t like the online pass thing. it's simply stealing from the product i bought. the little extra sounds nice.
