Fallujah dev's next in London soon
Breach playable at HMV Trocadero.
Six Days in Fallujah developer Atomic has a new multiplayer game called Breach that you can play months ahead of release.
Pack a bag and head to the HMV Gamerbase in London's Trocadero, Piccadilly on 27th and 28th to have a go. Make sure you turn up between 10am and 6pm.
Breach - a PC and Xbox Live Arcade game - will be released in January 2011. It's a first-person shooter with a Destruction Toolbox - a mechanic that opens up tactical options other games never touch.
Atomic Games' Peter Tamte is "thrilled" and looking forward to showing the "next generation of multiplayer action games" to you.
Atomic earned infamy for Six Days in Fallujah, a third-person tactical shooter billed as an accurate portrayal of the Battle of Fallujah. This was one of the bloodiest exchanges of the Iraq War, and resulted in the deaths of 38 US troops and 1200 insurgents.
Atomic Games consulted with Real US Marines and, as of the April 2009 announcement, had Konami down as the publisher.
But things turned sour.
Families of loved ones killed during the Iraq War questioned the premise, and press surrounding Six Days in Fallujah was negative. Then, in a move that "caught [Atomic] by surprise, Konami pulled out. And despite hopeful statements given by Tamte since - stating there were "a lot of people" interested in picking-up the game - no new publisher ever came forward.
EA experienced a similar furore for the use of Taliban as a multiplayer faction in Afghanistan-inspired shooter Medal of Honor. An under-pressure EA eventually decided to change the Taliban's name to Opposing Force.
I ask you this: would Six Days in Fallujah have seen the light of day had Medal of Honor been released first?

Have they heard of Battlefield: Bad Company?
Looking at the web site, I'd say it's nothing new: http://breachgame.com/destruction-toolbox/

The only problem is, leave this another 6 months unsigned and the product tech and art will be deemed too old for anyone to be interested in.
